Product description

1. The base and slats of the fan are made of anodised aluminium, won't rust or corrode. This heat fan is designed to provide very wide heating.
2. The fan generates its own electricity using the heat from the fireplace.
3. The metal plate in the base of the fan is a bi-metal strip, developed so the fan is light and provides maximum working temperature.
4. Using at temperatures higher than the recommended temperature of 660 °F / 350 °C may damage the fan and the power supply.
5. Keep fan away from children when in use.
Use: Position the heat fan on a smooth surface on top of your fireplace to the side, or back side of the furnace.
2. The hotter the furnace is, the more air the fan provides.

I barely notice any noise from the fan. .... infact, if I don't hear the fan start to turn, I know the fire isnt hot enough, and either needs more wood/coal or I need to stoke the fire!

I am a genuine purchaser of this product, I have not received it merely to review it. Just got my second fan as I was so impressed with the first. I only have a 21cm clearance from the the top of my stove to the fireplace top and these fit in no problem at all. The fan is most effective if placed towards the rear of the stove. I now have one each side of the chimney and the increase in room temperature is very noticeable. The first one arrived a couple of weeks ago and worked perfectly straight out of the box and onto the stove with no noticeable noise, despite several reviewers saying that this was an issue. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky with the second one, it started off okay but as the speed increased there was a very loud noise that sounded like the fan was catching against something. I removed it from the stove and as the fan cooled the noise stopped. I couldn't see any obvious point where the blades were catching but I noticed a very small allen key screw holding the propeller hub cap in place. Be sure to let the unit cool first before attempting this. I used a 1.5mm allen key and loosened the screw then eased the propeller and hub away from the unit approximately 1 to 2mm. I then tightened the screw and placed the unit back onto the stove........................ no noise, problem solved! It would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the DIY setting up.

I bought this to see if it would help distribute more heat around my lounge. My wood burner works quite effectively but I had noticed the top of it becoming very hot, as well as the brickwork above it also becoming quite hot. This was not a very efficient distribution of heat. As I only had 6 inches of clearance above the top of my woodburner and the brickwork above it I needed to purchase a more compact fan. This does the job perfectly. It starts up within 20 minutes of using the wood burner and the operation is very quiet. I have noticed that it is pushing heat out around the room and that the top of the wood burner and brickwork above it are getting nowhere near as hot as they used to be in the past. My lounge definitely feels warmer as a result.

I'm very happy so far and recommend this fan. Hopefully, it will continue to run effectively and quietly over a longer period of time.

Due to the age of the house, coupled with the size of the room, our woodburning stove is recessed into the yard-thick wall. This means that the wall heats up and keeps the house dry and warm, but the sitting room itself doesn't benefit so much as it should.

It was recommended to us that we get a stove fan to move hot air into the room, and because of height clearance this was the one we chose. It has made an incredible difference to the heating in the sitting room, it is practically silent and required no installation at all other than placing it on top of the stove.

Another advantage is that a quick glance over at the fan will show you if the stove is still producing heat, as the blades stop spinning when the stove cools down.

It's a brilliantly simple invention, it's made a huge difference to the heating of that room (and, consequently, the rest of the house) and it's really quite tiny. I wish we'd got one when we first put the stove in.

If you think your stove's not pushing out enough heat, try one of these to circulate the warm air. I'd really recommend it.

On unpacking this appeared to be a very well constructed, sturdy little fan.
On top of our wood burner it started spinning within about 10 minutes and was exceptionally quiet. All great!
However it was totally ineffective at spreading any heat around. You could feel no air movement from the fan, even holding a hand less than a foot away from it you would not know that it was there.
We requested to return it the same day we received it.
For £40 I think maybe look elsewhere, I would not recommend this product for air or heat circulation at all.

We bought this low profile fan to sit atop an old "barrel" style wood burning stove. Reading reviews on t'internet, these little guys are meant to push air away from the hot flue and top of the burner and into the room. This is in an effort to circulate the hot air more and not have it go straight up the chimney (which is a a particular issue if your chimney isn't lined - ours isn't).

Not really knowing what to expect, I got it out of the box and put it on the stove and lit the fire. After about a minute or two, the fan blades started turning. After a few more minutes, they were going round at quite the rate - and pushing a lovely flow of hot air away from the burner and into the room. Absolute magic and sorcery - as the fan hasn't a battery in sight and instead uses pure pixie dust to work (that's a lie, it uses a thermoelectric motor that converts heat into current).

We've lived with the fan for about 2 months now, with 2 months prior being when we have used the wood burner. A noticeable difference to our rooms temperature. Our room measures about 7m x 5m - it's a small living room - but it makes best use of the hot air generated by the stove.

But why only 4 out of 5 stars, I hear you ask? Well, it vibrates. And makes a noise. A few reviews hint at this and there is a DIY fix which involves moving the fan hub slightly away from the blades. It worked for me for a little bit and then started being noisy again. Not the end of the world - impedes functionality not at all - but it's a little distracting.
