Product description
'Never was so much owed by so many to so few' Winston Churchill, 1940.
303 Squadron is the powerful and true story of No.303 Fighter Squadron, the forgotten legends of the Battle of Britain and their incalculable contribution towards Britain's World War II victory.
303 Squadron is the authentic and historically accurate portrayal of how the Polish pilots of 303 Squadron turned the tide in the most seminal battle of World War II and paved way to victory.
At a time when every day could be the last, they didn't hesitate to perform extreme airborne manoeuvres to hit their targets. No-one flew quite like them. Their extraordinary skills and genuine patriotism can be an example for future generations of Poles, of what true heroism is. The film not only tells about the spectacular actions in which they took part in the Battle of Britain, but also shows their private lives: Who they loved, lost and missed.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 December 2024A true depiction of the contribution made by Polish pilots in WWII.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 October 2021Very good film, much better than a similar movie called 'Hurricane'. This tells the true story of fighter pilots from Poland, fighting in the skies of England against the Nazi Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. Not only did these pilots had to face the hardships of prosecution from the Germans and the Soviets when there homeland was conquered at the start of World War 2 but they had to overcome doubts from their arrogant and stuck up British Superior when it came to regulations, disclipine and the content language barrier. One could probably imagine how they had to go through yet in spite of all that they persisted and helped defeat the Nazi's denying them air superiority in order for them to conquer Britain and therefore turn the tide of war. This film has some over the top yet interesting CGIs of dogfights in the air as well as some snippets taken from the classical 1969 film 'Battle of Britain'. Apart from that this is a good film to watch and has some good behind the scenes footage as well as a music video. The names of the pilots in this film are real who actually fought in the Battle of Britain yet are played by great actors from Poland. They are both feared and respected by both the RAF who they served under and the Germans who they fought against. Wonderful war film well worth watching if you like air combat in WW2 as well as non fictional stories.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 November 2024Does the job very well, specially for small cables but instructions are a bit vague.
Mechanical intuition will sort out most issues except the ‘Adjusting Knob’ What’s it for or what does it adjust, have twiddled to its limits and nothing seems to change.
“Adjustable rotary strength” is mentioned but leaves me nowhere!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 August 2021The positives: Good actors, good film direction, producing, special effects and story for those who are new to the subject of a RAF Fighter squadron in the Battle of Britain-it informs and entertains.
Negative points: Despite the wartime propaganda, the facts are very different. This film, some books and another film brought out the same year try to portray 303 Squadron as the saviours of the Battle of Britain-they did well but many other RAF squadrons did well also-They were a team! The 303 Polish Squadron was led by British and Canadian Officers as well as having Polish pilots and the study of their claims for 303 show a percentage by these men. A lot of recent articles, books and documentary films have tried to change history in saying the Poles never received recognition-this is far from true-they were widely respected and applauded for their fighting spirit in 1940. Not just by the RAF and the press but by the public who bought them drinks in bars or who could not do enough for these men, who had lost their country, their families and loved ones with no news as to their fate. Any who have met the Polish fighter pilots, read their stories or read of how brave these men were, would be appalled at how they are portrayed as rebellious, striking senior officers, having relationships with WAAFs on their bases-all far from the reality of the Poles who had immaculate manners, the officers especially had far more respect than shown in this film. An old friend of mine flew three tours as a Polish pilot in the RAF and I am glad he passed away in 1989 and did not see this portrayal. A more recent examination of the claims by ALL RAF fighter squadrons in the Battle of Britain, that matched known Luftwaffe verified losses to combats by time, place and squadrons involved found that the top for actual verified aircraft destroyed and matching records was 603 Spitfire squadron and another two stood slightly higher than 303 Squadron in this respect of scoring. In terms of CLAIMED victories, during the period-303 squadron claimed the most but Luftwaffe sources do not match a lot of these claims-as happened also, for example to 74 and 92 squadron. This takes nothing away from their record, their fighting spirit and how effective they were. The reality was they were in the battle for far less time, staring in August 1940 and being posted out of the line part way through October. Others, such as 501 Squadron stayed in the line longer. I admire the Poles, knew a few and have read most books written about them or 303 squadron in the Battle of Britain period. I write about them. and tell the true story also. The Poles deserve better than this film.
Back to a Positive note: If you know nothing of the Battle of Britain, the Polish contribution or the story of the plight of the Poles, this film will educate and entertain but please remember the true story is even more remarkable.
Lastly, I did enjoy the film despite it`s bias and altering of the facts.

5.0 out of 5 stars 303 from the Polish perspective
a straight forward historical drama with no big romances or padding, lots of air footage and banter and a true story. no regret , this is a good solid engaging well made movie. i would have got it just for the planes , dog fights and air footage. the story is piece of history not often discussed , polish flying aces out of britain and plane design. glad i gave it a chance . much better than a lot of more famous reenactment movies, and probably more honest

5.0 out of 5 stars Good World War 2 movie.
A fitting tribute to those brave fighter pilots that fought in the Polish division in the Battle of Britain. Exciting and entertaining if you like dogfights in the sky.
