Very pleased with this purchase. It's substantial in construction - a bit larger than I was envisaging - but very solid. I've used it on its base plate and have found that, provided you don't articulate the head too far away from the base, it remains very stable. A desk-clamp is provided as an option, but I've not tried that so far. Illumination is good and even and various colour temperatures can be selected. Because the lens provides 10x magnification, there can be a certain amount of distortion according to your viewing angle, but this would be the case in any magnifier of this type; the trick is to keep your head still and your eye at a constant distance from the glass as you work. For the price paid, I'm delighted with the ARTDOT Magnifying glass and hope to make regular use of it for all those little tasks that require close attention.

I originally purchased this for diamond painting but I now use it exclusively when cross-stitching on 25 count fabric. The magnifier comes with both a metal stand as well as a table clamp. The clamp is strong and easy to tighten onto the edge of a table, or in my case, my embroidery stand. The light has several brightness settings as well as settings to change the colour temperature. I found the first "warm" level to be the most comfortable for my eyes.

The viewable magnified area is only in the centre of the glass, so it can take a bit of shifting to make sure that my project is in focus, but it's not too bad. It would have been nice if the whole glass area was useable though. The magnifier is attached to a gooseneck arm which is nice and flexible, and feels sturdy. I do wish that it was a bit longer as it feels a bit short. This product is well made, and despite a few niggles, I would happily recommend this.

I bought this for diamond painting because some times the numbers, letters or symbols are very hard to see. Even though i use a lighted board underneath what I am working on, I still need to see it bigger to make sure i am using the correct color drill. That is where this magnifying glass comes in verry handy. All I do is clip it onto the edge of the table and then I move the gooseneck into the area I am working on. It makes everything so much easier. While the weight of this is a bit heavy it adjust easily and the light is nice and bright. I usually leave it in the same spot so as to not have to keep cleaning up an area that I am just coming back to. I just fold down the goose neck so its not sticking up or out and there has never been an issue or problem of having it in the way. The light’s clip that adheres to the desk is very strong and holds well yet doesn’t scratch or ruin your furnishings.
