This particular shield is really well padded and reflective/deflective, and will keep the elements off without any trouble. It's well made and a good fit across the windscreen of our Honda, wrapping around each side nicely. Recently I discovered that the mice like these things; I'll be keeping this in the boot (not the shed) this time; if last summers' weather is repeated, it will come in useful to keep the full sun from overheating the steering wheel and dashboard (it never dawned on me to use my last one through the heat wave despite the fact that we use a similar cover on our motorhome). As it is, a good windshield cover beats newspaper any time for helping keep the windshield frost free, and it will do a much better job of stopping the steering wheel and dashboard from frying.

Oh, and it might have been a relatively mild winter so far, but I dare say I'm going to need this yet!
