From the manufacturer
They were ordinary men, swept up in the most extraordinary conflict in history. But with the eyes of the world upon them, they found their greatest source of strength in each other.
Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and HBO present the story of Easy Company, an elite team of U.S. paratroopers whose World War II exploits are as incredible as they are true.
This landmark ten-part miniseries based on Stephen E. Ambrose's non-fiction best-seller recounts the remarkable achievements of a volunteer rifle company that parachuted into France on D-Day, spearheaded the Market-Garden and Rhine offensives, fought the Nazis in Bastogne and the Bulge and captured Hitler's 'impenetrable' Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden in 1945.
Product description
All ten episodes of the award-winning mini-series based on the real-life experiences of American paratroopers who fought in Europe during the Second World War. From their training in Camp Toccoa, Georgia, through their landing in Normandy as part of the D-Day offensive, their participation in the Battle of the Bulge, and all the way up to the final surrender of the German forces, the series follows the adventures of Easy Company, a unit noted for its skill and bravery, but which also suffered a high number of casualties in its journey across Europe. Each episode also features excerpts from actual interviews with surviving members of the company.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 September 2023An extraordinary evocation of WW2 reality in every way. Well cast, with fine production values that do a
superb job recreating the confusion, terror and camaraderie of a US paratroop unit from D-Day to the
end of WW2, with a very welcome interspersed selection of first hand accounts from some of those who survived to tell the tale. Plus some welcome "extras", including the making of the series and an event in
France that saw the return of the same members of the elite Easy Company, part of the US 101st Airborne Division. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2020This series is like a more in depth version of Saving Pvt. Ryan. Obviously with two of the same minds involved on the film being, Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks, you can see the similarities with the way the score and visuals are done to SPR. Band of Brothers covers a much deeper look at the relationships made in WWII. From boot camp, all the way to behind enemy lines. At times the soldiers are fighting with allies, opposing soldiers and themselves, with overwhelming thoughts of isolation or helplessness, to the lack of hope and time frame at which they have to carry out tasks. The entire series is very well paced and shows the character development throughout and how the loss of ‘Brothers’ affects the characters. I’ve seen army vets comment on some threads on different platforms saying how realistic the depiction is, so much so that they have a hard time watching it. That has got to be the best compliment to a WWII biopic based solely on the rise, fall and victory of East Company’s exploits. Showing an accurate representation of how it feels to live, die & fight amongst those that you call ‘Brothers’.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 May 2021I originally bought Band of Brothers on DVD when it was released back in 2001. I remember back even then, it felt like every episode was an event to appreciate with full concentration and no distractions, such was the importance of the story, the men whose tales of war are told so vividly, graphically both in the interviews pre-episode and then portrayed so brilliantly by all the actors involved.
20 years on it was time to upgrade to Blu-ray and this amazing series has never looked better and sounded more powerful. The battle scenes throughout are so realistic, bullets whistling past your ears from all side, explosions shaking your walls etc. Again I sat and watched in awe/silence the whole way through, it really is THAT good. Looking forward to watching the documentaries next :) If you havent already, BUY this and be blown away. A band of brothers who will make you laugh, cry, but most of all inspire. Cannot recommend it enough!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2023Whoever has an interest in humans who find themselves in the most dreadful of conflicts, will most certainly find this series more than food for thought. This story based on true events is an excellent adaptation of the testimonials by those that were there. A brilliant series which is thought provoking and although unsettling at times makes us appreciation those who were thrust into a war and face the unimaginable.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2024Still waiting to open it and watch it. Thank you.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 December 2024Of all the great series I've seen over the years, some stand out far above the others, such as Rome, Breaking Bad, and maybe Vikings.
Band of Brothers is on another level entirely, and it's one I've come back to rewatch several times. It's a masterpiece, and deserves more stars than I can give it.
The casting, score, dialogue, and attention to detail are fantastic, and the interviews with the actual veterans portrayed in the series are an inspired touch. Their names are only revealed at the very end, so you're never sure which will survive, and which will be lost along the way, so tragically cut down at such a young age.
The series is rated 15, and if it was shown to every 15 year old, many would learn a lot about sacrifice and loss. It might even make them grateful for the lifestyle they have today, made possible by the selfless bravery of others.
