Bigjigs Toys was born in 1985 in Peter Ireland’s garden shed in Kent, England. Peter began making wooden jigsaws from floorboards, which he and wife Liz sold at craft fairs all across the UK. Peter and Liz gave up their teaching jobs to pursue the toys business full time and Bigjigs Toys was born!
Bigjigs Toys Ltd is a family run business, founded in 1985 in Folkestone, England. Liz and Peter Ireland are head of the family and together with their two sons, have created a global toy company which continues to go from strength to strength. Bigjigs Toys has grown enormously since 1985, but still remains family run. Liz and Peter are still involved in every aspect of the toy production, from the toy design to packing your order. Liz and Peter’s two sons, Sam and Tom, became Directors in 2017. Even grandchildren Arthur and Edith get involved with testing the toys! It really is, and continues to be, a family affair.
Our mission is to deliver high quality, safe and affordable sustainable toys. We believe that children develop and learn best through lots of fun and exploration! All of our beautiful toys are lovingly designed in the UK and we work hard to ensure that our products are safe, long lasting and educational.
Our toys are manufactured using the highest quality materials available to create toys that will last for generations.
Many of our toys are made from rubberwood. This is a hardwood that would normally be discarded after latex production, making it a sustainable choice that doesn't compromise quality.
Our unique toys are designed in the UK at our HQ by our Creative Team and are packaged carefully to prevent damages and give great in store presence.
