The Satara is a great Biltong Maker with a matt finish lid and base, created with ease of use in mind, robust and reliable, a great machine that will produce amazing biltong every time. Made from 3mm thick impact resistant acrylic with a durable 3mm thick white foamex back support panel. The 3mm thick panels are easily assembled via rigid corner beading especially manufactured for ourselves and provides greater strength and support. The use of Aluminium rod supports give this a great feel and look, allowing the 3 rods flexibility to be placed in varied locations along the black angled support giving the freedom to make sure your meat is dried to perfection during the whole hanging process, extra rods can also be purchased and added if required. New design in the Rod holders, Easy Clip on and off for easy cleaning The tidy, compact and modern design of this unique Biltong Maker, creates a modern and chic look, and would look great in any room, including the kitchen, office or even a bedroom. Supplied flat-packed with easy to assemble instructions and will have you ready to hang your meat in less than 5 minutes. Also supplied with 100g Biltong Spice and a 40W Bayonet Cap Bulb. I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift. We are Saffas and we love our biltong but it is so expensive to buy it in the UK. My husband had previously made his own biltong dryer but it was always a little troublesome, he was so excited when he opened his gift and started making biltong straight away. He had no problem setting it up, the back board fits in perfectly, just follow the instructions and take it slow. The size is perfect, and 'fully loaded' it makes enough biltong to keep us happy and to share with my mom as well. We have not yet tried the spices as we already had another open bag of biltong spice that we want to use up first. The fan and light is very efficient, depending on how thick the meat is and how wet or dry you prefer your biltong it take about 2 to 3 days for it to be ready. My hubby puts a layer of foil wrap and kitchen towel at the bottom of the box and it absorbs any drip of the meat and keeps the bottom of the box clean. There is no door in the front but it is easy to hang the meat from the top of the box. When he wants to change the kitchen towel he just carefully lifts the box away from the base. We bought some extra hooks as we found we needed more than what is supplied but they are easy to find online. We don't have any negative comments, we are very happy with this purchase.

I haven’t scrolled through the pages of reviews but I can see one that matches my disappointment.

The box arrived, all the pieces were here, however, I think some of the boxes measurements do not work as well as others.

What should have been a five minute job was an hour. Fortunately the plastic is strong, so I didn’t break it, however i have sliced my hands all over trying to get the pieces to fit together, once nearly slicing my wrist!

There was one of the top hook connectors that just “fit” perfectly - the rest with brute force. So I’m confident this order was faulty and others do just “fit”.

With perseverance and a lot of stress and cursing I got the box together and now (despite it being covered in my own blood) looks neat and tidy.

I won’t be taking this apart; as I won’t have the patience to put it back together. So now where do I put it when I’m not using it. - I guess we will just have to start selling biltong if this thing truly works.
