About the first double A released this month from across DSPs, the band have to say: "Playing With Fire is a song about lost or broken love, someone unravelling mentally, journeying on an emotional roller coaster ride of self-discovery, paranoia and self-destruction." The track was most recently playlisted on Absolute 20s, with more promo news to come, + the band will be announcing a 20-date March 2024 tour on album announce.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 November 2024Great album made better by the exceptional skill of the delivery driver posting it through my letterbox
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 May 2024I'm not a Feeder fan but really enjoyed the album. Usually go for much heavier tracks. Went to watch the band life for the first time and they played a few new tracks.
On the album or live the band sounds great. They sound a bit like a lighter Foo Fighters.
The delivery from amazon was very quick. Initially the system said I would have to wait about 3 weeks but got it within a few days.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 April 2024Have been a huge fan of Feeder for many years.
That said, Grant Nicholas plays it way too safe - a lot of the lyrics, song structures, guitar riffs and vocals sound very similar to the last 3 albums.
This will please die-hard Feeder fans but the album is not innovative or distinctive enough.
It is also a tad cheeky to make fans pay more for a double album with only 18 songs!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 April 2024After seeing Feeder last month and hearing several of the new songs from "Black/Red" I had high hopes for this double album. I am glad that I pre ordered the album as it now out of stock on ÍøÆغÚÁÏ. The album is superb and possibly their best album of all time. It rocks has great chorus's ,hooks and melody .It leaves you with a big fat smile on your face ,which these days is a great thing. Kick back and enjoy !
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 June 2024Great new double album by Feeder, they keep getting better. Best album since 2002's Comfort in Sound.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 May 20245 stars for a reason.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 May 2024Great album really enjoyed it
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2024TL; DR: if you liked Torpedo you'll like this.
Longer version. This is a short double album - just 35 minutes per CD. So it could all have been crammed onto one CD with a loss of just a track or two. But maybe Grant Nicholas likes the idea of more succinct CDs (like the nine track Arrow that accompanied Feeder Best OF).
In any case this is GN's songwriting at its best. He has a knack of taking unmelodic, unpromising loud riffs and turning them into something listenable (often by attaching a sing-along chorus). But what he also brings is a sense of sound. I've always loved GN's attention to detail when it comes to the production of Feeder albums - tiny sonic details you don't notice on the first few listens.
He's also less afraid these days to sound like other bands - I hear elements of Alter Bridge, Muse and Amplifier, amongst others, and 'Sahara' sounds like GN's take on Zep's 'Kashmir' (GN is a big Zep fan).
But he also retains the ability to surprise. 'Soldiers Of Love' complete with bagpipes and three/four time is one of the loveliest songs he's ever written (it's one of Taka's faves too). Look at how it's constructed - how the mid-8 goes back ('voices in our heads') to the opening 'aahs' followed by the two versions of the chorus and out. That's a master songwriter/producer at work.
But Feeder albums are best listened to all the way through. Almost all GN's songs are 3-4 minutes long and no more (OK, 'The Healing' from Torpedo is 6 minutes but that's wonderful) so they never outstay their welcome. It's why I no longer just pick out my initial favourites. These days I listen to Feeder albums in their entirety and songs I didn't like at first grow on me hugely.
Doing that with Black/Red makes it an immensely satisfying album (or double). Others have said it may be Feeder's best. They're not wrong. Don't stop, Grant.

5.0 out of 5 stars FEEDER - Black / Red
