We put some bits of cheese in the food areas of both the mouse traps, in a cupboard we knew we had mice, and the next day, no mice and door not sprung. Left for another night, again no sign of mice. After the third night, I took the traps out of the cupboard, doors still not sprung, but not a trace of cheese in either. So tried again last night, and took out the traps this morning only to find again no trace of cheese in either and the doors still un-sprung. Mice had obviously entered the traps, taken the bits of cheese and got out again without setting off the trigger to shut the doors. If I'd kept the box they came in, I would return them and ask for a refund. They just do not work.

Large Humane Traps

We had a bit of an infestation of mice recently and used a somewhat similar trap to catch them, which worked very well indeed. I'm hoping they are all gone now after catching no less than 13 mice of varying sizes! As such, and to speed up catching them in the future should then need ever arise again (I hope not) I ordered this pair of traps from Blas.

The traps are actually quite large, measuring 31 x 7 x 7 cm. At one end there is a clip-in section that you remove to add water and food to try and entice your unwanted visitor, and the other end is the entrance you hope they will find. This is opened with a simple spring clip on the side. There is then a long section the mouse walks along, hopefully until it steps on the trap while trying to get the food which then moves the lever along the side and releases the door, locking the mouse in. The trap is ventilated at the food end and there is a metal frontage on the inside to stop the mouse chewing through the plastic grates.

The traps can also be screwed into the floor if you have a need for them to be permanently sited, though you will need to provide your own screws.

It is a very simple and effective design, and while I have no more mice to trap at the moment (at least none that have made themselves known over the last few weeks) I have no doubt at all that it will work as well as the other humane traps I have. For food suggestions, along with peanut butter, mice also seem to be quite partial to crisps (which is what I used to trap the baker's dozen previously).
