This is a low cost, lightweight stand but it is fine for supporting a large 2m x1.5m pop-up background, upright or horizontal. The four section, telescopic stand extends safely up to 2.3m, keeping the leg spreaders horizontal and each section having 4-5cm of overlap.
The crossbar tube is in two parts which you simply push together and line up the centre hole. The threaded pin at the top of the stand goes through the hole and is held in place with a decent sized butterfly nut and a washer. The assembled crossbar is just over 1.5m. A nice detail is that it has plastic end stops which would help avoid injury if anyone bumped into it. However, with the cross bar only having that centre pin mount, it is the weakest point. It isn't sturdy enough to hang anything weighty, like a lamp. That said, for a large pop-up reflector or hanging a drape, it's fine.
There are four large plastic clips supplied with the stand. These are a decent size and have a strong spring and will easily hold a drape or reflector in place on the cross bar.
As long as you accept this is not going to be as robust as a professional stand, it will do the job it's designed for. I'm happy with this purchase and think it's a good buy.
