- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2021I have to admit, i've probably listened to this more times than 'Oh Mercy,' 'Love and Theft' and 'Modern Times' put togeather. I would rate this among the likes of 'Bootleg 1-3' 'Bootleg Series 4: The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert, and quite possibly higher than some of Bobs masterpeices. Right when you think this collection is one 7-10 minute masterpeice after another, he throws in something like 'Cocaine Blues,' and Tell Tale Signs grants you the experience that the title suggests. Just beautiful material all around. This CD dosent contain a booklit or an outer cardboard sleeve as the bootleg series used to. But the music is their and thats all that really matters, although it would be nice all the same. Highly reccomend!! Also, disc 2 is just one of those CD's that has an amzing emotional affect while driving.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 June 2022Am i the only Bob fan out there that actually loves this more than anything else he has ever made? yes i really do think this collection is better than Blonde on Blonde for example. Does that sound crazy? I just wish Columbia would release more of these modern era Bob outtakes and give us more of them. I would be so happy to get a 5/6/7/8 CD version with a book and the live performances from the super rare disc 3 are just the tip of the iceberg to what Columbia could do with the 1996-2002 era
play them country blues cowboy

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 November 2023This is my favourite Dylan album. The music is simply wonderful.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2017CD1 is great; CD2 is forgettable.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 October 2015I've been reading Ian Bell's two volume bio of Dylan. Bell makes the point that sometimes Dylan's choices of what's included and what left out of albums is sometimes inexplicable, and that omitted songs are sometimes better than those included. This cd backs Bell up: it has some great songs, mainly from the Oh Mercy, Modern Times and Time Out of Mind period: songs not included in those albums, alternate takes, and a couple of live reinterpretations. Highlights include songs like two earlier versions of 'Mississippi' , omitted from Time out of Mind', and 'Dignity' from 'Oh Mercy' sessions. The tracks on this 'official' bootleg series are mainly studio quality recordings of full songs, not the mix of fragments that have surfaced on unauthorised bootlegs. It's like having a new Dylan album from one of my favourite periods of his work: highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2020Two CDs of unreleased material some completely inknown, some live and some in better versions than the final releaseses.
A few standout tracks for me are 'Red River Shore', 'Dreamin' of You', 'Huck's Tune', 'Marchin' to the City', 'Can't Escape from You'. Also great to hear him singing others' songs: Robert Johnson and Rev Gary Davies for example, which he interprets so well.
The live band is superb and so are the studio musicians showing how songs grow or can be interpreted. Great stuff all round.

5.0 out of 5 stars I consider this Bob Dylan's best album
That's what I think. This is mature Dylan at his best. My favorite songs are Mississippi (the first version), Everything Broken, and High Water.
This is the exact same album as the Legacy edition. This is released by Sony Music which bought Dylan's entire music catalog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dylan's be back

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Tell Tale Signs
Time Out Of Mind" cinque anni prima. L'inedita Red River Shore" avrebbe potuto attenuare il mood tenebroso di "Time Out of Mind", in quanto emana note efficaci di empatia e tenerezza.
Imperdibile.
