I bought this bivvy bag as a replacement for my existing bivvy bag. The old bivvy was basically a huge orange bin liner which was deceptively heavy which made me reluctant to carry it permanently in my rucksack I’m not sure how warm a bin liner is either. I had seen a friend’s bivvy bag which was like the Bramble - lightweight and with a reflective inner - and once I purchased the Bramble myself I was very impressed with the quality, weight and appearance. It is now permanently in my rucksack. I’ve not had the opportunity to use it yet but at least I know it’s there if I do. Thanks for such a great product.

This emergency Bivvy bag is of a high quality film with a very good reflective inner film. When opened, you can see just how big it is which will make it easy for someone to climb inside without tearing anything (although I think you'll have a job tearing it at all).
I have folded mine in half again and have compressed as tightly as possible and sealed in another vacuum seal bag as I will be carrying mine underground when caving so it needs to be as small and compact as possible.
I will say extremely good value for the money although I'm not looking forward to using it because it means it will have gone pear shaped somewhere!!
However, I do know it will do the job perfectly if ever called upon.

Well, this is essentially a large plastic bag with a reflective silver coating inside. A bit sturdier than the emergency blankets, e.g., ambulances use.

Don't fall for the pictures suggesting it was a cozy, super light, and small sleeping bag. If you actually sleep in this, you'll be trenched in your own sweat in the morning. The insulating capabilities are somewhat limited.

I bought them after I was forced to spend a whole night on the floor of a hopelessly overcrowded, chaotic airport. I was looking for something not too fragile but still lightweight and small to put between myself, my gear, and a filthy airport floor should this happen again. I guess it serves such purposes well.

Das Material erinnert mich an einen großen Müllbeutel, d.h. es ist weich und knistert kaum. Wenn man vorsichtig ist, kann man den Sack wahrscheinlich auch mehrmals benutzen, obwohl ich ihn von allen spitzen Gegenständen fernhalten würde. Er ist recht auch geräumig.
Man bekommt, was man nach der Beschreibung erwarten kann, in guter Qualität für einen guten Preis.

Allerdings muß man sich im klaren sein, was man kauft. Dies ist im Prinzip eine Rettungsdecke in Schlafsackform. Dies ist kein Schlafsack.

Wenn man das weiß, dann ist das folgende selbstverständlich und kein Defekt dieses Produktes sondern eine Eigenschaft die in dem Prinzip an sich begründet liegt:

Wenn man sich hineinlegt fühlt man sich auch wärmer. Allerdings funktioniert das nur wirklich gut, wo etwas Luft zwischen dem Sack und dem Körper ist. Liegt der Sack direkt auf der Haut, so bringt er nicht wirklich viel. Besonders an den Füßen wird es einem leicht kalt, wenn man wie ich nur dünne Socken an hat, an denen der Sack klebt, weil man geschwitzt hat.

Ich denke, falls man in eine Notsituation kommt, dann kann dieser Sack einen deutlichen Unterschied machen, weil er den Wind und Nässe abhält und die Körperwärme reflektiert. Man wird also vielleicht eine Nacht überstehen, ohne zu erfrieren. Man wird aber nur mit diesem Sack bestimmt nicht bequem schlafen. Stattdessen wird man immer man wieder an einer Stelle, wo man den Sack direkt berührt frieren und muß dann die Position wechseln. Danach fühlt man sich wieder eine Weile warm, bevor man an einer anderen Stelle eine Kältebrücke entdeckt.

Auch denke ich nicht, daß der Sack irgendwie hilft, wenn es darum geht, Bodenkälte abzuhalten. Dafür braucht man Isoliermaterial. Man könnte eine Waldläufermatraze aus geschichteten Zweigen bauen, oder sich einfach in den Sack gewickelt auf einen Baumstumpf setzen.

Interessant wird es, wenn man den Sack zusammen mit einer Isolierenden Innenschicht verwendet. Ich habe mich aus Spaß einmal im Sack in einen Poncholiner der Niederländer gelegt. Das ist im Prinzip eine dünne Steppdecke aus Kunstfaser. Ohne den Sack war es etwas kühl, da der Wind doch irgendwie durchzog. In Kombination mit dem Sack war es richtig schnuckelig. Hier sorgt der Poncholiner für zusätzliche Isolierung und etwas Abstand zum Rettungsack, während dieser den Wind abhält (und warscheinlich auch die Feuchtigkeit von Außen). Natürlich ist auch dies kein Arktis-Schlafsack aber einem leichten Sommerschlafsack kommt es schon nahe.

Ich könnte mir auch vorstellen, daß er im Zusammenhang mit einem regulären Schlafsack noch ein paar Grad zusätzlich herauskitzeln könnte.

Fazit: Hält was es verspricht, aber man kauft eine Sicherheit für Notfall aber definitiv keinen Schlafsack.
