- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2024Great war movie, but I haven't watched it yet. From what I can remember it is a great movie, unless the quality of the video after all those years are not as good as when it was published. Until I watch it, I can't say.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 September 2024Was a little sceptical of the price of the second hand dvd but wanted to watch so I risked it, came in good quality and wasn’t damaged so don’t second guess as well worth the money 👍
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2024Great movie 🎬 fast delivery
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 October 2024some historical inaccuracies and hardware mistakes but still a good war film.....not a documentry. Impressive cast with the sort of actors whose equivalent no longer exist today.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 August 2024Good war film loads of great actors in it, trying to keep the Germans of this bridge, not an easy task, but great story to it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 August 2024One of the best war movies great location fantastic cast
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 August 2010Richard Attenborough's film of the Cornelius Ryan book.
The film dwells less on the reasons that Operation Market Garden didn't work than the book does, however the film is an excellent representation of one of the last stands taken by the Germans against the allied onslaught toward the end of World War II. At a little less than 3 hours there's simply not enough time to put across the scale of the operation, but what is here is more than sufficient to illustrate the plan Montgomery had to end the war by Christmas 1944. It nearly worked too, and if you don't want to read the book this film is the next best thing.
It also has almost every major star of motion pictures of the mid-70s in it, as well as an early entry in the career of a certain John Ratzenberger, who has since gone on to be a major voice artist and comedian, perhaps best known for his role in Cheers.
I would highly recommend this as possibly the best world war II movie made to date.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 December 2023Awesome movie, loosely based on the real operation Market Garden. Fantastic cast, most definitely one to watch.
