    An absolutely brilliant gift for any build a bear fan. I'd been looking around for this and happily found it here. My little boy absolutely loved making his own mini build a bear just like the experience in the shop. Comes with lots of little accessories and two mini teddies to stuff.     I have mixed reactions to this toy. In theory it sounds fantastic - both my daughter and my niece love Build-A-Bear and so the ideal of creating one themselves at home sounded great fun. They gleefully set this up and were enjoying being the lady in the shop and the customer. You do get two bears, so this is a great toy to share and, if you have a boy and a girl, there is even one pink and one brown bear, to appeal to both. If you have two girls, they will obviously fight over the pink one - luckily my daughter is old enough that she was happy for her little cousin to choose...

    This has everything you need - from the little hearts to put in the bears to the certificates to fill in. The problem is that the stuffing machine kept getting stuck. It is a crank action machine and I kept having to take the bears off, sort it out and then put it back on. Not a huge issue, but it was irritating. However, this was great fun and they really enjoyed doing it, so just be aware that you will need some adult involvement if your stuffing machine is as unreliable as ours was!

    That said, they enjoyed playing with it and you can buy extra kits which you stuff by hand (there is a ballerina bunny, a sleepy kitty and a cheer bear available so far, that I can see). Unless your child particularly wants the stuffing station, I would just go for one of the cuddly toys that your child can stuff by hand. They are cheaper and the stuffing station is pretty useless - we ended up doing most of it by hand anyway. Still, if your child really wants the whole kit (mine did) then just enter into the spirit of the thing and they will enjoy it regardless.

    My nephew loved this, but it only gets 3 stars for clearly being aimed at girls when it should be unisex. Young boys like cuddly toys too and the build-a-bear shops always have girls and boys in them, so why have they put this in a pink box and covered it in photos of girls using it? I hadn't seen the box when I ordered, only the product itself which is clearly suitable for both. When I saw the box, I was concerned that my nephew would think I had bought him a girl's toy, but luckily he was so excited by the contents and the blue puppy kit I bought him to go with it, that he didn't notice the box. I'm sure some boys would be put off by the box, which is a shame, when the product itself is fine for them.

My biggest problem with this product is the huge hunk of plastic which is left redundant after said hour unless you want to spend a fortune on extra stuffing and bears. Im not a strict eco-warrior type by any means but it actually offends me at the thought of hundreds of thousands of these useless 'machines' that must be sat in a landfill somewhere now! It is a gimmick that does nothing above the capability of a couple of fingers which will be required anyway to drive the stuffing into the limbs. I would just take your child to a BaB shop as a treat if they enjoy seeing a bear being created than buy this again but thats just my opinion!
