A little heavier than the usual Spears & Jackson Wilkinson Sword options but clearly heavier duty and more substantial. I had cause to claim a Bulldog fork free replacement under the lifetime warranty a year ago and found the company most obliging. Hopefully this will not be necessary as the tool looks impressively robust . I have toyed with grinding a slightly sharper edge on the blade but will try it for a while first.
I gave a four star rating for value for money simply because it was noticeably more expensive than the rest but am confident " you get what you pay for".

Getting this product was like receiving an order through a time warp. A solid inch-and-a-half thick varnished ash handle perfectly fitted to a thick, heavy , welded steel blade. It feels rock-solid and quite capable of lasting a hundred years. I'm not joking. I've used it extensively already to dig flowerbeds out of an old lawn and its a joy to use and handle. Look at some of the far-eastern competition you can buy for half the price - plastic shafts, spindly little necks, no weight in them - how long will they last? Buy this and your children's children will be using it long after you're gone. Superb.
