    Weird cameos for a South Asian audience make this even more of a bizarre film - a good thrilling rip off of Train to Busan (Watch that if you want to be gripped) this is a gory, silly romp of a film with loads of stars in and all sorts of weird side stories going on - could have been more gripping but was still fun. The most stupid part is not the ridiculous deaths but the fact a man is able to hold on to a fast moving bullet train and smash a window to get back inside - sorry but I can believe fights, snakes, teenage girls, mafia bosses, under cover assassins and all the rest, but this was just really annoying and made it go from fun to a bit naff for me! I liked the train conductor (the time traveller from Heroes - he needed a bigger part) but the teen girl could have really been spiced up a bit and been even more badass - love the Thomas the tank stuff, but found the other female assassin a bit weird - she needed more screen time. Brad Pitt was good and the odd cameos from (I won't spoil it) make it quite fun although the plastic surgery and Botox these stars seem to be having becomes really apparent at certain points. Like the premise, teenagers would love this, would work well on a big screen, but felt it was a bit of a rip off and a bit daft at times.

When unwinding at the weekend, there is nothing my wife and like better than what we like to call a mindless action movie. Cerebral is the last thing we want. Nothing too involved or involving. No deep messages. Plenty of shallow violence. Bullets, bombs and body parts! Spectacular special effects. Car chase mayhem and impossibly protracted fist-fights. Maybe some black humour. Definitely some black humour.

    A good mindless action movie will make you wince rather than think. It is just entertainment. It doesn't have to MEAN anything.

    'Bullet Train' is NOT a classic movie. But as a mindless action movie, it gets five stars and earns every one of them. This is largely thanks to Brad Pitt who manages to be a believable character while doing stuff that is totally unbelievable. Much of the movie may be farce and slapstick. But Brad Pitt, with the aid of director David Leitch, pulls it up short of being annoying.

    When you're complaining that "a disposable plastic water bottle gets more of a backstory than the other women in the film", you really haven't got the hang of the Saturday night mindless action movie.
