We’re first time chicken owners and this product worked like a charm. We used it instead of a heat lamp and it kept our chicks plenty warm in a 55-65 degree F garage in the spring. It was just the right size for 6 growing Rhode Island reds and we kept raising it an inch or so per week. The chicks were adorable sticking their heads out by week 3 or 4, and really didn’t need it anymore around week 5 as temps were in 65-70 degree range in our garage by that point.
