With the ClearClick Video To Digital Converter 2.0, you can transfer your videos to digital format with the touch of a button. Convert your VHS collection and enjoy your old movies again. Restore and share your family memories from 20 years ago. You can watch your digitized videos on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or your TV.

Here's how it works...

Connect your Video2Digital Converter 2.0 to your VCR, camcorder, or any other video source. (Accepts any input source with RCA/AV output)
Plug in a USB flash drive or SD card into the converter. (Not included) Your digitalized video will be saved onto this drive.
Press the "Record" button on the converter. You'll be able to see your video on the 3.5" LCD as it transfers. (No computer is required to capture your videos!)
Press "Record" again to stop recording (or use the "Auto Stop" feature to stop recording after a preset amount of time).
Remove your USB flash drive or SD card from the converter, and insert it into your computer to transfer your digitized videos to your computer. Then put them on your tablet, smartphone, or burn a DVD. (DVD burning software not included.)

It's so quick and easy to use. Just plug in your camera or video recorder and hit play, and then press record on the ClearClick. It's that simple.

It takes the pain out of digitising videos, no sound synchronisation issues and picture quality as expected for VHS. File size is reasonably small too. Much better results than using a video capture stick and done in half the time without the hassle.

You need a USB stick or SD card to record the video, and then plug in to your PC to copy off. Really has saved me loads of time.

Used it to convert old home recordings from the 80’s and it worked perfectly, but it splits longer videos into 4Gb chunks. Obviously you need a compatible player for your tapes. I like that the unit has a built in screen and sound, auto picture size & very quick and intuitive to set up and playback of what has been transferred, but no file thumbnails or list, you tap left - right to find a recording and play. Files readable on PC with free software. Def does a better job than cheaper PC based converters which often bring in PC processing artefacts like weird clicks and image freezes/frame drops. None of those problems. Good intermediate between beginner quality and studio pro.

Very good user interface (easy to use) BUT, the recorded quality is NOT acceptable for this price - there is quite a bit of pixelation in the image and it is due to the high level of compression used. It is not necessary nowadays to compress video this much as storage space is cheap, or there could have been an option in the menu. I expected better for this price.

I bought the clearclick converter as my son is a pro photographer and is often contacted to see if he can digitise old tapes anything from vhsc to hi8 etc. but it’s me who does the work so I treated myself to this wonderful piece of kit, after using other methods (plug in usb type) it gives a much better workflow and has no glitches as it records to an SD card or a Usb pen, the former I would recommend and you still need some form of video editing software to complete a good job, but as a videographer myself I already use one. The unit is well made, comes with all the connecting wiring and power adapter, you can even view your progress on a tv via the HDMI output on the device whilst recording. Ok it’s definitely not HD and is not meant for that application but for digitisation of old formats from bygone devices it makes life easygoing my recommendation for recording old VHS is to try an use a VHS player with An S video outlet as this produces slightly better quality than an AV outlet.

I have been looking for some time for an A to D converter for my Canon XL2 and HV30 camcorders. This piece of kit looked to be what I needed to get away from the old tape based recording system but I have found it wanting in two main areas.

1 There is no internal battery so a mains supply, (this came with the device) or a power pack is required to power the device. I use a power pack which works well but is a piece of clutter that I would rather not have to bother with when recording.

2 The device can only record at 720p which is far short of the video requirements of today. My camera is set to record at 1080 x 25fps which is incompatible with the ClearClick. I have had to devise some work arounds to overcome this short fall.

I have had to reset my camera to record at 4x3 which is the format that this device needs. It will not cope with 16x9 format. Record quality is just about acceptable and is output to either to SD card or memory stick. I use a mac computer running VideoPad as my main video editing software. With this I can crop and enlarge the footage but there is, understandably, some loss of quality. When copied to a DVD and viewed on a small TV the quality loss is not too noticeable.

With the above in mind I would suggest that this piece of equipment is grossly over priced and not fit to cope with today's video and TV standards.

I will persevere with the device and software but I do not hold out much hope for improving the output. It does, however, provide a much larger screen as a viewing monitor.

I've had several devices over the years for transferring video and none of them particularly great to use, hence why I have mini DV cassettes which haven't been viewed in nearly twenty years.
I wish I had this back in 2004, it's easy and convenient. yes I worried that it was pricy but honestly totalling up the cheaper variants that have only had limited success this unit is easily worth the money and is cheaper than the failed purchases.

For my needs I simply have to play the cassette through the camcorder with an S-Video and a RCA cable connecting it to the ClearClick recorder (making sure not to use the yellow video connection as I do find this generates some visual interference in the light parts of the video).
Then with the SD card inserted press record and then start the camcorder playing and stop when I'm done. The video files are immediately watchable on any computer.
I love the simplicity of it and not having to rely on any software seals the deal.
