I recently tried out the 200W Car Voltage Converter Inverter, and overall, I’m quite pleased with it, especially for its price and convenience. This inverter is great for charging devices like phones and laptops in your car, using the 12V cigarette lighter socket. It features two UK plug sockets and four USB-A ports, which is very handy for keeping multiple devices powered up during long drives, business trips, or camping. The unit itself is compact and portable, making it easy to store and use wherever there’s a 12V socket available.

The inverter is well-built, with shutters on the AC sockets for safety, and the additional cooling fan helps to manage heat. It is perfect for lighter tasks, like charging a laptop in an emergency, but it does have limitations. Due to its 200W power capacity, it might struggle with higher-demand devices like heating cups or more power-hungry appliances. A nice small convenient adapter although limited to 200W output so don’t expect to run anything power hungry from your car, but its ideal to laptop charger etc. The unit is well made and has a good range of sockets 2 mains and 4 USB, capable of quick charging. The quoted safety features are good, part of which is the addition of a small fan on the side to prevent overheating, there is also a small power switch. The lead will do, but I did find it a little short as Car cigar sockets are generally mounted quite high in the car, so with the length of the lead (58cm) it may mean that you have your sockets hanging. I found in tests that it worked well and that the cigar style plug was a snug fit showing no sign of falling out. Overall though it’s a nice useful adapter for the car.

This is a compact, well made invertor which allows lower powered items with mains plugs to be charged on the go. You can charge up to 200w which is ideal for things like cameras, laptops, tablets etc. There's an indicator to make sure your car battery is at the right level of power, and it plugs in easily to the cigarette lighter. Also includes 4 USB sockets which is handy. It's perfect for keeping in the car for emergencies!

During testing I only had one issue with the inverter and that was the length of the Cigarette Lighter connector. Due to its length it may not be suited to all vehicles, depending on where the socket is situated. It would also have been better to have had the cable exiting at the side to shorten the intrusion. In my case, it causes the cable to conflict with the gear lever, meaning it cannot be used by a passenger whilst the vehicle is in motion.

It is also important to remember that not all cars power the Cigarette Lighter socket with the ignition off.
