You will need to know the frequency of the fibre optic signal from the source to know if this adapter is compatible. I couldn’t use this with my intended source, a new Fire Tv, but thankfully my other fibre optic source, a Talktalk tv box, was on the same frequency as this adapter and is working perfectly.
So unless you know the frequency of your intended fibre optic source, or are able to tune or adjust it, just be aware.
Apart from the above, this adapter does do an excellent job if the frequencies match.

Compared to the more expensive DAC available from same manufacturer which also includes a coaxial connection I found the sound very quiet on full volume on Samsung smart TV and also LG smart tv. Listening through headphones I found the volume level was too low. Even more noticeable on certain streaming sites. Netflix was far too quiet. Maybe ok if you're connecting an amp with RCA connections. Also compared to other DAC build quality was not has good.

No bad things to say really only time will tell on reliability but 18 month guarantee is good, all in all a good 4 stars.

Reinstalled Windows & for whatever reason my PC decided it was no longer going to give a satisfactory sound output via speakers or monitor, so I opted to use the optical audio output port instead. This meant I needed an adaptor.

Installed in about 5 minutes total, no drivers required just powered from USB by provided cable.

Plugged into the optical port with provided cable & moved my audio cable from PC into the adaptor & changed the default sound device.

I am getting a much better sound (To my ears) from the speakers I had connected, the volume control on the unit is a handy touch for a fast reduction in volume

- semplicità di installazione: in ingresso ho inserito il cavo audio del TV (Toslink) e in uscita uso un cuffia con jack da 3,5. Il terzo collegamento è quello dell'alimentazione.
- audio pulito, nessun "rumore" o sfrigolio di sottofondo.
- robustezza: lo scatolino è in alluminio (non plastica) ed anche dopo 3 ore di uso continuo non rilevo nessun punto di forte calore sulla sua struttura esterna
Non riscontro difetti a fronte di un uso quaotidiano dalla data di acquisto (10.01.2021).
