    Having now watched all 6 seasons of The Crown on dvd I would say that the first 5 series are extremely well done, historically interesting, and that one comes away with an increased respect for the late Queen. Season 6 rather spoils all of this. The overwhelming sense one has watching it is "those poor boys, I hope they never see this". It indulges in pure speculation about the motives, intentions, and emotional state of Princess Diana immediately prior to her death, as of Dodi Fayed, and equally painfully that of the young princes and the then Prince Charles. In a way and to a degree not done in previous series it "meddles in the stuff of other mens' souls" The dramatic device of the ghost of Diana is particularly tasteless and ill judged and can not be anything but wounding to those concerned. Compelling viewing it may be after a fashion, but I would recommend stopping at the end of season 6.
