Product description

A collection of three of Japan's most famous ghost stories that have haunted people for centuries. Kenji Misumi (Lone Wolf and Cub) directs The Ghost of Yotsuya, in which a woman returns from the grave as a horribly disfigured phantom to torment her husband and his new bride. In The Snow Woman, directed by Tokuzo Tanaka (Zatoichi), a woodcutter must keep his oath to a vengeful female spirit or pay the ultimate price. The Bride from Hades by Satsuo Yamamoto (Shinobi) sees a handsome samurai so enchanted by a courtesan's beauty that he fails to realise that is a ghost. These three film versions from the Daiei studio form a pinnacle of atmospheric Japanese horror. Their elegant visuals and ominous shadows rival the best of Terence Fisher or Mario Bava, while their iconic female ghosts would greatly influence Asian genre cinema, from Hong Kong fantasy spectacles such as A Chinese Ghost Story to J-horror.

    If you're looking for a really scary night of pure horror, then you will find it here in this beautiful Japanese Box-Set of Ghost Movies. And in addition to this, all the movies are in Blue-Ray which means the sounds and visions are of a pristine quality. As a matter of fact, I already have all these movies. but when I discovered them all in one beautiful box-set, I knew this was one 'must-have' for my dvd Japanese horror collection. If you enjoyed Oni-Baba, then you will love these. Best part is that they are full of atmosphere and so you can escape into a parallel universe. I LOVE it in all its entirity and want to thank the seller as well as ÍøÆغÚÁÏ. May I also wish you all a Very Happy New Year 2025. This is the best Christmas Gift I ever had.     What an amazing set!! Radiance Films puts out one after the other. This really got me more interested in Daiei titels. So happy to see Kenji Misumi and other overlooked director's movies getting a proper release. Hoping for more like this.

    Yet another great box set from Radiance Films. All of the films are visually stunning, albeit fairly solid films. Well worth checking out. Please ignore anyone that keeps saying that every disc they buy is scratched, this is nonesense.
