This little otter bath thermometer is great! It's certainly cute, and it floats well. The battery CAN be changed, and there is a good seal in the compartment to make sure it stays waterproof. It will give readings in °F or °C as you prefer. When the water gets "too hot" it flashes red - the default "too hot" temperature is 39°C, but can be set as low as 36 or as high as ...The settings can be changed using the three buttons on the back [show in the advert photos]
Oliver the Otter went for a swim with a few of the ducks to show off his skills - I think the ducks just wanted to get their photos with the new cool kid, but they had a laugh in the hand-basin during the photo shoot :)
The temperature updates quickly enough to see the water temperature vary by 0.1/0.2° while he is swimming around, and my medical thermometer was doing the same thing as the currents moved the water around ...I am perfectly happy that both the readings in this photo (39.5 and 39.7) are accurate.
The only thing that I would change is that I plan to use this for MY baths as well, and I wish I could set the alarm temperature to 41°C for me! ...But it is being sold as a BABY bath monitor, and therefore it does what it says it does - and it does it well ...5*
