CD’s are copies and not second hand
Purchased this in good faith of receiving a ‘good’ condition second hand Pink Floyd album. This is in fact an illegal copy that infringes all copyright laws. The Cover is a cardboard cut out and the CD’s have the title and disk 1 and disk 2 handwritten. Ripping CD’s for commercial exploitation is an illegal activity.

    Fantastic sound engineering. I play it on a old technics system from 2000 which I've owned from new. Like most of us I don't have the luxury of a listening room, my speakers are close to the wall and my room is a terrible shape for acoustics. However this album sounds fantastic, the best thing I've heard from a engineering standpoint.
    The music forms a sound scape even though in theory it's not got the room, a sphere of sound seems to hover in the room back from and higher than the speakers between the two. Each individual instrument shines out. It was actually quite unerving at times. I've heard this a tiny amount on some of my cd,s but nothing like this. The tracks are varied and nice to listen to on a music front.
    Can't recommend this album enough especially if you have a half decent system. It's kinda sad that it takes music from as far back as the 60s to achieve a level of sound quality that most new album's fail to achieve.
    Again I highly, highly recommended this cd and I shall certainly be buying more pink floyd stuff.

    Seguramente se habrán dejado algún tema que merecería estar en este álbum, pero este doble CD de unos setenta minutos cada disco aprovecha su capacidad para poner lo mejor de lo mejor sin cortapisas, sin mutilar los temas extensos que merecen un hueco en este tipo de selecciones de grandes temas.

    Como todos los grandes grupos de los sesenta que se encontraron con el rythim & blues y el rock & roll americano y una incesante panoplia de innovaciones tecnológicas en el sonido y la instrumentación musical, así como con movimientos juveniles de inspiración oriental y costumbres derivadas primero del opio y después del ácido lisérgico, lo primero que hicieron fue experimentar sus composiciones con distorsiones de su música que los críticos o ellos mismos llamaron psicodelia. Hasta que encontraron y/o cohabitaron con su verdadero estilo.

    De la psicodelia habían participado grupos tan dispares como The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Spencer Davies Group, Cream o el mismo Pink Floyd, que llevó esta experiencia psicodélica no a unas pocas notas en temas concretos, sino a grandes desarrollos que se pueden calificar ya de rock progresivo. Temas como 'Astronomy Domine', 'See Emily Play' o 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun', y que se encuentran en este álbum doble, dan fe de este movimiento psicodélico incrustado en el rock.

    Tras 'Meddle' (1971) que incluye el tema 'Echoes' que da título a este grandes éxitos, Pink Floyd fue afinando y abriendo su repertorio a propuestas más típicas del rock progresivo que participaba de líneas melódicas menos heterodoxas y por tanto más digeribles y populares, adaptadas a la promoción y venta, y que culminaron con el lanzamiento del vinilo "The Dark Side Of The Moon". Después vendría uno de los álbumes punteros del rock progresivo, una auténtica obra maestra: "Wish You Were Here". Conceptual y mítico. Para terminar con "The Wall", el más aclamado por el público y el más publicitado; el último de este tríptico esencial de la banda. 'The Wall' fue la síntesis estilística perfecta de los dos anteriores, que participó del aspecto comercial y popular del primero y de la sublimación melódica, conceptual y estructural del segundo, y que llegó a ser banda sonora del film con el mismo titulo dirigido magistralmente por Alan Parker (aunque en realidad fue el film quien resultara ser la "banda visual" del disco).

    Después vendrían otros trabajos significativos pero menores que incluyeron enormes temas muy recordados y que aparecen en esta selección como 'Learning To Fly' o 'Sorrow'.

    En definitiva, este 'Echoes, The Best Of Pink Floyd' es un recopilatorio excelente de canciones maestras del grupo más mítico y popular que la historia ha ofrecido del rock progresivo, un referente asiduo de grupos señeros de este género musical en este siglo XXI como DreamTheater, Transatlantic, Neal Morse Band, Spock's Beard, Southern Empire, Opeth, The Flower Kings etc, etc
