These mouse traps are excellent! We've had little humane traps before for when the cats brought something in and let it go which, to be fair to them, have worked but were a little temperamental to set and a mouse caught in one for a couple of hours managed to eat its way out!
Recently, for whatever reason, we've had quite a few mice scampering behind the kitchen cupboards. Obviously we weren't thrilled about this so wanted some better traps to deal with the issue. These traps are really sturdily built and mice caught in them have not yet managed to make any inroads into getting out of them. I like that they're nice and roomy and the mechanism for setting them (and setting them off) works really well. They are in a different league to our old traps!
The one issue that we've found with them is that we perhaps had some rather scrawny mice as, occasionally, the bits of nut that we put in the traps were being cleaned out but the visitor wasn't caught. We surmised that the mouse in question wasn't heavy enough to set off the trap so we added a lump of blue tac towards the back of the mechanism that sets off the trap to give it added weight - please see the pics if you need to do this too. This took a little bit of trial and error to get the right amount - not enough that the trap won't stay open (obviously) - but enough to mean that the additional weight of scrawny mouse closed the trap. This worked really well and now the skinniest of mice sets off our now super-sensitive trap. We caught several in one day and, after a couple of days, our kitchen now appears to be mouse free. I've cleaned up the traps and they'll be used again if we ever get another problem.
Highly recommended as a humane way to rid yourselves of any extra unwanted 'guests'!
