As you can see from the side-by-side comparison this is a dead ringer for a Steinel IS1 (probably the best outdoor PIR I've ever owned). It's the same size, same shape, has the same adjustment angles (the head can be adjusted side to side and up and down), everything.

Unscrewing the back cover reveals a three-terminal connector block, with no provision for an earth terminal. It's possible to fit a terminal block with four or five terminals though, to accommodate additional wires. The Steinel has a separate earth terminal but no room for a bigger terminal block.

The terminal area is sealed (almost, there appears to be a gap in the sealant on mine) to prevent water ingress into the next compartment (the side-to-side angle section). There are two plastic grommets to take incoming and outgoing cables, but it appears possible to drill and fit a conduit bushing here if you wanted to run a 20mm conduit straight in through the wall.

There's contradictory information on the box; on one side it says it supports 300W LED or 1200W incandescent, on another side the figures are reversed. According to the label on the back of the PIR itself though, it's 300W LED and 1200W incandescent.

All in all it's a good, highly adjustable sensor and if it's anything like the Steinel it's imitating it'll certainly last.

Excellent quality motion sensor, well made and easy to connect up, effective in operation.

Decent range of options for sensitivity and time on, with the time dial allowing between 10 seconds and 15 minutes. The angle of the sensing head also has a good range of adjustment.

Connected up to a 100w LED floodlight, great to be able to have the sensor mounted in a different place to the actual light, rather than being restricted to the range of movement of a sensor mounted on a floodlight body.

Made the connections in a nearby junction box, taking the earth straight to the light fitting, sending the neutral and live to the sensor then back to the light fitting as a switched live. All fairly straight forward to do, saving having to cram everything into the back of the sensor body.

There are grommets on the back of the unit to allow for the cable in and cable out, with some cut-outs you can pop out of the casing to bring the wires out from the unit.

Evoges EvoSense Black Motion Detector PIR, Outdoor Use, 180° Degree Motion Detector.

This PIR sensor feels well made and has a good weight to it.

I like the fact that the sensor is all Black including the PIR sensor face.

It is IP65 which is a much better rating than many others that are only IP44 and soon let in water. This should stand up to the elements far better and therefore last longer.

It also importantly has a good wide detection range of 180°. Many others are only 140° or less.

Maximum power rated load of 1200W for incandescent lamps or 300W LED lamps.
(Note:- The printing on the box has this power rating the wrong way round.)

It would have been nice if there was a little more room in the wiring compartment, but this is a common problem with all makes.

There are controls for Lux and time and good movement for the PIR detection angle positioning.

This item a remote PIR sensor to control floodlight, porch light or any other electrical item up to 1200w incandescent light, 300w LED or small electrical items.

The passive infra-red detector has a 180 degree movement (90 + 90) up or down with a 90 degree movement (45 + 45) from side to side this presuming horizontal fitting. We are told this IP65 construction for use outdoors, the wiring cables for input power and output control are fitted through the removable base via grommets.
Two rotating switches below the moveable sensor control the timer and day/night activation of the light or other attached item.

The user instruction sheet supplied indicates the sensor should be mounted 6 to 8ft high this to give the best detection results of 180degree wide vision at up to 12 metre in distance, I like the black appearance and dark sensor glass as this allows covert positioning of the sensor making it virtually unseen during night hours, obviously as a stand alone sensor it can control one light or more up to the maximum power stated at points away from the sensor giving the impression they are manually controlled and not PIR.

The sensor itself is basic in use and fitting, personally I have it wired to two remote 50w LED floodlights and it works as described, care has to be taken in positioning as tree, bush, animal movement, even heavy rain will cause the sensor to operate, unfortunately no adjustment of sensitivity is provided so false detections can be frequent during inclement weather or night time activities of furry creatures.
