It was a band that often made unannounced appearances in their own backyards at clubs like the Back Room, The Crossroads Club, The Catalyst and others, featuring Neil Young (guitar, harmonica and vocals), Bob Mosley (bass and vocals), Jeff Blackburn (guitar and vocals) and Johnny Craviotto (drums & vocals).

    What a great album.its a good recording and the band are in fine form and seem to be enjoying themselves. The main focus is on Neil,whose songs are all superb on this album, you have the added bonus of Bob Mosley and Jeff Blackburn who are also good songwriters! Thanks to mr Mosley I have dug out my moby grape albums! Don’t be quackers ,buy the Ducks album !

    Firstly, most who read this will be curious Neil Young fans. This is not a Neil Young album. Secondly, if you are a Neil Young fan, his stamp is all over this. But, rather curiously, this band is a little tighter than Crazy Horse. They are rehearsed and polished. I'm sure Neil would have hated that! (Hence, short-lived excursion). Thirdly, this is a really important release for those interested in the psychology of stardom. Neil is at the top of his game, with the pressure literally dripping from him with every note - he's having fun! I'm not sure of the chronology, but you can hear foreshadows of American Stars n Bars, Comes A Time, Rust Never Sleeps and Re*Ac*Tor. Thankfully, nothing of Hawks and Doves or Trans. Finally, a huge respect to Tim Drummond. If you are worried about sound quality, this is literally the best of Neil Young's bootleg releases. It is superb quality. 4 stars. It would have been 5, but I left one off because it's being sold as a Neil Young bootleg (which it is), but in reality it's The Ducks. And, what wonderful ducks they are.
