As a vegan, I am very happy with the quality and the price of this supplement. Although we incorporate ground flaxseed in our daily food intake but you can't get the daily requirement for omega 3. This is a great for me and my family and the really good value. You get 2 bottles of 180 capsules for £17.

Flaxseed oil is one of the few vegetarian sources of omega 3 ALA so I was pleased to get this substantial supply.
If you take the manufacturer's recommended dose of 3 capsules a day, each bottle will last about 60 days so the two bottles would last about 4 months. I just take 1 capsule day so the 2 bottles would be a year's supply for one person.

It is difficult to judge the quality of a product like this - you have to accept the manufacturer's claims.

There are two things significant for me, - the ingredients and fact that the oil has been cold pressed without the use of chemicals or heat.
The ingredients shown on the product label are slightly different from those shown in the listing, the difference being the constituents of the gel shell. The listing shows the capsule is made of (Carrageenan, Modified Corn Starch, Glycerin, Purified Water) whereas the label claims it is made of (Hydroxypropyl starch, glycerol, carrageenan, modified starch). A small difference but if if the information was consistent it would give more confidence in the claims made.

Another minor issue I have is the headline of 3000mg. The front of the label does not make it clear that this refers to the recommended daily dose of 3 capsules. The back of the label has the usual 'Nutritional Information' table. The figures shown are for 3 capsules. It does say that the amounts are per serving and that a serving size is 3 capsules. I would find it more transparent if the amounts were listed per capsule.
Those negative issues for me are just niggles and on the whole I am pleased with the product.
The current price of £20 seems a reasonable price compared to similar products available.

First things first – flaxseed oil capsules are a nutritional supplement, not a medicine, so if you’re having medical problems seek proper medical advice without delay! Also, some supplements can interact with your prescription medications – be safe and check with your GP. Read the information on the bottle.

I was already taking a daily cod liver oil or fish oil capsule when I read about the benefits of flaxseed oil. I learned that fish oil and flaxseed oil both contain essential fatty acids - these are polyunsaturated fatty acids that must come from the foods we eat because our bodies cannot synthesise them even though they are necessary for our health. There are two families of these essential fatty acids: omega-3 and omega-6 - and there are three primary types of omega-3. Fish oil has two of the omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), while flaxseed oil has a third (plant-based omega-3), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). My preference was to add flaxseed oil to my routine, I take one capsule along with a fish oil capsule daily.

The direction on the bottle which contains 180 capsules is that adults should take 3 daily – on that basis it’s a 60-day supply. The current price is £19.99 for 2 bottles – that works out at £5 a month, which I feel is quite reasonable. I’ve bought from ‘SimplySupplements’ several times and have always been happy with my purchases.

Fish oil supplements may be good for us but with a very sensitive sense of smell I cannot face the idea of taking them so I was very glad to be able to have the chance to try these flaxseed oil capsules. They have a very faint odour but it's not unpleasant so that's a big plus to start. Taking 3 sounds like a lot but they are very easy to swallow, so it's not as onerous as it might otherwise have been. It's not been long enough to observe the extent of effect of them, but very happy with them so far.
