Squirrels came straight away - we regularly have around 5 squirrels come to the garden fence near the house where we have a home made basket feeder. Great to see their antics in working out how to get their nuts. However … after only one day they had cracked and broken the perspex front - we made an alternative with a plastic CD cover and hoping this will do the trick. I think that the Perspex front should have been shorter leaving a bigger gap for the squirrels to push their heads through as they pushed the lid up. They are crafty creatures - were half expecting them to return with a sledge hammer. I’ve still rated this as a 5 star as it’s a good buy.

Arrived with the lid broken off due to poor packing and flimsy hinge and tiny screws. Managed to fix it easily enough with some glue and bigger screws. Squirrels love it. Learnt to open the lid straight away. Good entertainment. Not watertight so needs cleaning regularly.

A piece of the wood had broken off in the box.
The lid is wonky doesn’t close flat.
Nothing is sealed.
Not treated!
Squirrels will pull the plastic screen out straight away there’s nothing holding it in place

Looking at the pictures it shows the wood is treated, this definitely isn’t, I don’t know what the wood is but it’s soft very soft and I know the squirrels I have will chew through this in a day.

Decided to keep it not worth the hassle of sending it back.
I’ve stripped it down sealed it. Put sealant on all the joints and painted it.

I’ll see how long it lasts and come back to this
