I was looking for an upgrade to a GTX 1660 Ti, a perfectly good, but now ageing, graphics card for 1440p gaming. It's just starting to not meet the minimum specification for some games.
After a lot of research, I opted for this RX 7800 XT for two primary reasons:
1) 16GB of RAM which is relatively future proofed versus comparable Nvidia cards (like the RTX 4070)
2) Lower price versus those other comparable cards
After upgrading, I'm really happy with this card's performance. Helldivers II runs incredibly well, video editing is smoother and quicker, and the 7800 XT easily runs my two screens at higher framerates.
One recommendation I do have is to make use of a GPU bracket or support. The 7800 XT doesn't seem long enough to cause immediate stress on the PCI-E socket, but it's significantly longer than my previous card and I was worried about the card sagging over time. A cheap GPU bracket has given me some confidence that the 7800 XT is supported.
All-in-all, I'm really happy with the RX 7800 XT and looking forward to getting the most out of this upgrade. Highly recommended.
