Our Studhawk saw guide set includes a 45 & 90 degree angle guides and are ideal for small scale DIY projects work including model making to large scale professional construction work where power is not onsite. PLEASE NOTE: Saw is not included in this listing. However, for the best results use a new saw (we recommend 20"- 8T/9P) commonly known as a panel or jack saw.

These have been, and will continue to be really useful. I purchased these items initially to cut timber door frames whilst using a Rip Saw and they were excellent in providing an accurate cut. Although no Carpenter, I am a skilled engineer, and I can see the benefit of just making a quick marking measurement on the timber and quickly positioning the saw guide for the next cut, then sliding it along for the next cut... then sliding it along for the next cut... This has a tremendous advantage over the traditional tools; Set Square, Adjustable Set Square etc.
The heavy duty plastic they are made from will withstand shoving them in your tool box and being battered around. I've knocked 1 Star off for the price as I find them a little pricey for 2 pieces of moulded plastic. Fundamentally, these are a great asset to anyone's toolbox who needs to cut quantities of timber with accuracy and speed.

Had a problem with Royal Mail but Studwick quickly sorted it out with no fuss. I used the 90 for cutting 50mm legs from 40x40mm stock and achieved 90 den on the cuts. Brilliant and easy. 45's were 45 but had a problem getting 90 to the face. This I put down to me, thin material and the wrong saw. Quite confident I can master this though.

A possibly useful addition to tool kit for rough simple stuff. I purchased a set for MDF skirting. The 90 degree one was reasonably OK, using a clamp to secure it to the work. The 45 degree one was a total waste of time, unclampable and therefore unuseable for any semblance of accuracy.. Once used it and partially shredded by the saw, it is clearly not returnable, so a total waste of money.

If you are competent at sawing and are RIGHT handed then I am sure this would be a useful piece of kit.
Unfortunately I am neither, so have found it next to useless. As with ALL right-handed implements left-handedness is a serious impediment even though the right-handed don't believe it. Oh, and by the way DON'T expect a REFUND if you can't use it, it will be YOUR FAULT - neat way to keep your money!!

The Studhawk guides have become a handy and much-used part of my work shop. I find I use them not only to accurately hand-cut lumber but also as lightweight square to mark off pieces I wish to cut with electric saws. I have found only two minor disadvantages to the products. The first is that due to their awkward shape, storage was a problem. I ended up drilling a hole in each so now they hang handily in my workshop when not in use. Problem solved. The second is that some of the Japanese hand saws I use for fine woodworking have a raised reinforcing spine along the back of the blade which interfer with placing the saw blade right against the saw guide surface and thus prevents an accurate cut. No way around this, but not all problems in life can be solved.

The bottom line: Would I purchase these again? Yes, in a heart beat. Would I want to do woodwork without them? No, they are just that handy.
