I found it difficult to hold in one hand, and wind with the other, so I used cardboard bobbins to wedge the winder onto the edge of my plastic sewing box. This made it much easier to use.
The only other problem I’ve found, is the plastic wedge which secures the bobbin on the winder kept popping out! For the price, - it is good value, as I’ve seen the same product from other vendors, at a much higher price.
