Product description
The War On Drugs first studio album in four years, 'I Don't Live Here Anymore'. Over the last 15 years, The War on Drugs have steadily emerged as one of this century's great rock and roll synthesists, removing the gaps between the underground and the mainstream, between the obtuse and the anthemic, making records that wrestle a fractured past into a unified and engrossing present. The War On Drugs have never done that as well as they do with their fifth studio album, 'I Don't Live Here Anymore', an uncommon rock album about one of our most common but daunting processes-resilience in the face of despair.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 December 2024I rated their performance @ Glastonbury and bought this, I am not disappointed. Good musicians decent compositions all round a good disc.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2024My Dad asked for this and he really likes it. So no complaints. I can’t comment personally because I have never heard of this band.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2021What this album does is creep up on you, on first listen it doesn't seem that magical, but after a few listens it starts to reveal itself. Beautifully crafted songs that tap into you emotional needs!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2024Everything as expected and good price too for new and sealed CD.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 February 2022I came across TWOD through Lost in the Dream - a brilliant album. I played it 3 times through first time I heard it. It has never lost it's shine.
For me they are very much a "feel" band. I don't analyse their music too much, it just gets it me somewhere in my chest. Even managed to see the live in Glasgow. Great.
Deeper Understanding is good too, and many think it's better, but somehow it didn't get me quite as much. Not really sure why cause all the bits are in place.
So to I Don't Live Here Anymore ... Superb. For me it seems a more natural successor to Lost in the Dream. I think it will grow on me even more. Maybe.
Addendum: I wanted to add that the music gets 5 stars, but the art work gets only 1. As with their previous product; dark, blurry pics of the studio don't make for interesting viewing. I appreciate they not v photogenic and take a 'jeans and work shirt' look. But even the front cover pic cuts the head off the main man. Must do better.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2023Found them just by chance browsing spotify (well you do don't you?), and listened a few times to the whole album. It grows and grows. They're very together and tight. It's a very good set . So I wanted to expand away from the Internet and push a CD through the hi fi. It improves on the Cd. The stereo, the 5:1 split, the sub woofer and the albums production and engineering is superb. It then grows and grows even more.
The reviews ot their stuff talk of Dylan and Springstein and I can see why having now listened to some of the earlier albums why; but this album goes deeper and stands alone in their slot. They're good. The Madison Square Garden concert in January 2022 is evidence of this.
Excellent. Buy it

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 November 2021I knew this was a great album before I purchased it, but I'm unhappy on 3 counts:
1) the printing on the cover makes it look like it's a copy, not real. Is it real??
2) the packaging the vinyl arrived in was inadequate. It's an expensive vinyl record and needs to be packaged as all our other vinyls from ÍøÆغÚÁÏ have been, e.g. in a cardboard sleeve, not a thin paper envelope! This is a Christmas present so I can't remove the polythene wrapping to check it's okay.
3) It's really expensive for a new album. I dont understand why.

Probably not quite as good as A Deeper Understanding but it’s a fun album from real musicians.
