What is Castor Oil?:
Castor Oil is a multi-purpose vegetable oil that people have used for centuries as an herbal remedy.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil is a type of Castor Oil made from the castor plant (Ricinus Communis) which is processed differently to get the darker colour. It is made by extracting oil from the seeds of the Ricinus Communis plant. These seeds, also known as castor beans, contain a toxic enzyme called ricin. However, the heating process that castor oil undergoes deactivates it, allowing the oil to be used safely.
How to get Castor Oil:
When consumed, it is broken down in the small intestine, releasing ricinoleic acid which is the main fatty acid, which is absorbed by the intestine. Castor oil can be found in various forms including capsules, soft gels, spray, tablets, and drinkable drops (as a liquid to mix with your drinks), as well as in topical forms including serum, gel in a dropper, oil, cream, skin moisturizer, face mask, mascaras, shampoo & conditioner for hair; and can be found on its own or mixed with other oils such as rosemary or coconut.
