I recently purchased the JLL Silva Rowing Machine, and I’m extremely happy with my decision. This foldable magnetic resistance rower is perfect for my home workouts. The reason I ordered this is to replace my current one.
I’ve not had time to fully put this through it’s paces yet.

But I really like the warmth of the wood part.

Seeing that others have some issues with the display metrics (one of the reasons I’m replacing my previous rower) is a tad concerning. Nor do I like the mention about the the footrest issue. My current rower too, if I don’t tighten my shoes hard, it sometimes comes off.

And there’s nothing more annoying than having to stop when you’re in flow to reattach your displaced foot. So I’m hoping those mentions are not the case for mine.

I will update this as soon as I’ve had enough rowing on this.
Because of that, my rating is currently 4/5 only on first impressions!

But the look and unique aspect is 4.7/5 for me.
Just hope the unique design doesn’t affect the rowing metrics…oh, this was £199 when ordering this.

The first you notice is the stylish wood look giving the JLL Silva Rowing Machine a very modern elegant look.

Set up was super fast and easy and took minutes.

The display links to 2 apps which you need to scribe to, which is a shame would be nice if there were fee options. I did have a free trial but it lasted a few hours not a few day.

Overall the rowing machine is great and good value and great for home workouts.

I've had about 10 days to put this rowing machine to the test, and I feel ready to share my honest thoughts. In short, I'm quite pleased with it. It's become a regular part of my daily workouts, adding that much-needed cardio element.

🛠️ Quick Setup

Setting up the JLL Silva Rowing Machine is incredibly easy—it took me just 10-15 minutes. It comes mostly pre-assembled, and all you need to do is:

* Add the seat: Super simple—just pull out the stoppers at the end of the rower and slide the seat into place.
* Fix the footrest: Again, very easy—unfold it and use the two knobs to secure it in place.
* Attach the LCD display: This part was a little tricky. You need to unscrew the LCD display first, then use those screws to attach it to the plate at the back of the rowing machine. You also have to connect two wires from the LCD to the wires from the machine. It didn't seem to matter which wire went where.

Once all of that is done, you're ready to start rowing!

🔧 Adjustable Resistance

The rower has a resistance dial at the front, with levels from 1 (lowest) to 16 (highest). Initially, I found the highest resistance (16) still a bit too easy, so it would be great if a future version increased the resistance range. But for longer sessions, level 16 is probably challenging enough.

📊 LCD Display Issues

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the numbers on the LCD display to change while rowing—no matter how much I tried, they just wouldn't update. So, I wasn't able to track my time, distance, or reps, which is a bit of a letdown.

The display itself is also not in colour, which means it's hard to see in low light—you'll need a well-lit room if you plan on using it in the evening. I'm not a big fan of non-colour displays, and I hope that a future version includes a colour LCD.

Another drawback is the Bluetooth. It automatically connects to iOS or Android apps like Kinomap and Zwift, which is nice if you plan on using them. However, there's no way to turn off the Bluetooth, so it drains the batteries quickly. Having an option to disable Bluetooth would be a huge improvement.

🖼️ Design and Usability

I do like the overall design of the rower. It's slim and doesn’t take up much space compared to the bulky rowers you see at the gym. The wood finish looks great, and the solid rubber feet keep it stable.

However, I did encounter an issue with the handle wire. A couple of times during my workouts, the wire that connects the handle to the runner came loose, which was frustrating because I had to stop and reattach it.

📦 Overall Impressions

Despite some of these issues—like the LCD not working and the handle wire coming loose—I'm still quite happy with this rower. It's great for home workouts, easy to set up, and simple to store away afterward. It does exactly what I need it to do, and for that, it’s a solid piece of equipment. If you’re looking for a compact rowing machine for home use, this one is worth considering!
