Got this for a small UK garden as I have tried a million ways to beat squirrels from clearing out feeders. Comes in very quality box with easy assembly instructions and interstingly weights for UK birds from tits to pigeons. The feeder closes using the weight of the feeding birds. Was a bit concerned as according to instructions it should close with combined weight of 4 green finches. Anyway, first impresions on taking out the box were solid construction, nice appearance and just right size for UK garden. Easy to assemble and fill. Loaded it with sunflower hearts and placed it in same location as standard tube feeder. Instructions say you need minimum of 18 inches clearance around the feeder to prevent squirrels reching it from the side. So I had to trim some branches around it. If your hanging from a ground pole you will need pole arms longer than 18 inches! Anyway, it was an instant hit with the birds who showed no fear of it being new! Everything from tits to finches, robins to sparrows loved it and with all 4 perches being used at once thankfully it didnt close. Tits even love clinging to mesh sides wich they cant do with standard smooth sided feeders! Then came the best bit with the arrival of the grey squirrel. He tried for 10 minutes going from every angle to get to the ports and every time it closed on him and he got nothing. Victory at last! He now by passes our garden en route to clear out the neighbours standard tube feeders. Feeders been up for a while now and seed has lasted a good few days instead of half a day with the squirrel feeding. It has rained hard and no sign of it clogging with wet seed either. Ive bought loads of feeders over the years and this is the best by a long shot. If you hang it correctly and fill with quality seed and you have a good population of loccal birds you wont be dissapointed!
