Jethro Tull ring in the holiday season with 'The Jethro Tull Christmas Album - Fresh Snow at Christmas' edition on December 6th. Originally released back in 2003, the album has been newly remixed from the original tapes by Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), and will be available as a Limited Edition 4CD+Blu-ray Bookset. Featuring the brand-new mixes, as well as the original ones across two CD's, the set also features 'Christmas Live at St Brides 2008' newly remixed, as well as over 40 minutes of unreleased recordings from a previous performance at St Brides in 2006 by the Ian Anderson Band. Both of these shows were in aid of homeless charities. The blu-ray includes Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround Sound & High Resolution 24/44 Stereo Mixes of The Jethro Tull Christmas Album, as well as High Resolution 24/44 Stereo Mixes of 'Christmas Live at St Brides 2008'. All packaged in a hardcover bookset, with brand new artwork & liner notes. This will also mark the first time the album has ever been released on vinyl, coming as a Gatefold 180g 2LP edition.

    Ian and the band bring their own take on traditional and self penned Yuletide and winter season songs. Great arrangements and musicianship as always, both in the studio and the live performances. A nicely presented, informative, multi-disc bookset matching their previous bookset releases (I have them all) in format and size which look like a set of books on a shelf, and which are a model of consistency and quality that other labels should take note of.     I came in during 1969 as a schoolboy - in the 'Stand Up' era - and have been a fan ever since. As a result I went to many amazing live performances, had all the vinyl issues, then the CD's and then the CD re issues etc etc. This one is somewhat odd as it is out of sequence. One would have expected a re issue of 'Under Wraps' at this point being the next in the sequence after 'Broadsword'
    As to the music, it is excellent and the recording quality is up there also. However, if you want to hear Tull as most normally expect to hear them - then this is not for you ! Good background music for Xmas Eve perhaps ?

    If you liked the original, you will LOVE this. A brilliant remix of the 2003 original, with more defined vocals and interesting highlights. 'A Winter Snowscape' truly sparkles and 'Solstice Bells' sounds a lot punchier. A regular in our household for over 20 years now becomes even more enjoyable.
