Already had a loupe, but found my head was always blocking the light (it's not excessively big) making the task difficult. The built-in illumination works very well and solves that issue. The magnification is adequate for the intended use. The UV light also works well, though I have little use for that feature. It seems robustly built��enough that I seldom return it to its case. The loupe gives the impression that it was modified from the same item without illumination by forcing in a spacer so that the outer frame cleared the LEDs and switch (not an issue, it just looks odd).
