I bought these quite a few years ago now, on starting a job which involved loading aircraft holds. Being of a fairly light build myself, the thicker, hard shell knee pads that are available weren't really suitable for me & a search brought up these. They are simply shaped, moulded, lightweight but dense foam, with a smooth synthetic textile backing & a Velcro fastening elastic strap. No stitches to wear out or caps to catch on anything. Nothing to go wrong. They'll fit into a decent sized coat pocket but are comfortable enough to be worn when not actually working on the knees. In fact in the winter they provide a bit of warmth. They're not too bulky but still give good protection, at least on the smooth surfaces I encounter. I did find that the Velcro on the straps didn't last too long & the pads would ping off at the wrong moment! However, I bought some cheap webbing luggage straps with sliding buckles to replace them & this gave them a new lease of life.
All these years on they're still in use. The textile liner has since become detached but this proves no detriment. Recently two colleagues, interested in knowing where I got them, asked me to obtain some on their behalf. They have been much admired! If they ever do wear out I would buy them again in a blink - although I'd include some better straps right from the start.
