The position of the cut produces nice smooth edges on the lid and can. So no more risk of cutting your fingers on sharp and jagged edges caused by regular can openers and ring pull lids.

Cutting through the seam on the can rim leaves a convenient lip on the can lid - this means that the lid fits snugly back onto the can so that spare contents can be kept covered for later use.

Getting to Grips with your Safety Can Opener

This Safety Can Opener attaches to the can slightly differently to regular can openers, so some customers might find it a little fiddly to begin with. Here are some trouble shooting tips to get you up and running as soon as possible.

Testing the Gripping Mechanism

1) Open the Lever: Ensure the lever is in the open position. This can be done by making a half turn of the lever in a backwards direction.

2) Hold the Gripping Mechanism: Loosely hold the gripping mechanism on the outside with your left hand, using your finger and thumb. This is to prevent it from turning.

3) Turn the Lever: Carefully turn the lever forwards. The gripping mechanism should draw inwards. If it does, the mechanism is functioning properly. If not, then please refer to the instruction guide for further support options.

Ensuring Proper Grip on the Can

1) Understand the Mechanism: For the can opener to grip a can, it requires the friction of the can rim to prevent it from moving around. This resistance activates the gripping mechanism, causing it to draw inwards.

2) Check the Positioning: Ensure the can opener is not leaned too far back or forwards. The hooped guard should not rest on the can rim. Instead, it should slightly rock back and forth with the gripping mechanism acting as the pivot.

3) Find the Correct Position: Position the can opener so that the hooped guard can rock slightly back and forth at the central pivot point. This is the correct position for the can opener to begin opening the can.

Ive always thought that £10+ for a can opener was ludicrus - especially when you can pick them up in any supermarket for around a tenth of the price - but how wrong was I!!

This can opener is truly unbelieveable, and I cannot believe it was nothing but my own stubbornness that stopped me from experiencing this sooner. Call me sad - but I actually look forward to opening tins with this now!!

It is so comfortable to hold, so easy to use, turns so smoothly and is incredibly sturdy - and the bit that still blows my mind is that it doesnt leave ANY sharp edges ANYWHERE!! It actually even SHAPES the lid while opening so that it literally pops straight back on afterwards!! I mean, you shouldnt store food in their metal cans anyway, but still - what an incredible thing that is!!

It may be a small thing, and it may be one of those things that many of us - myself included - dont really think about or perhaps cant justify, but I honestly cannot recommend this highly enough - it literally is a joy to use and will no doubt outlast any other can opener out there.

To be honest I was fed up with our old tin opener. It wasn't cheap but would start off taking the lid off a tin and then stop biting into the metal leaving me with a tin half opened, absolute rubbish. The ring pull cans failed about 25% of the time, equally useless and annoying. So I decided to spend what seemed like quite a bit of money on this opener, based I must say around such positive reviews.
And guess what?. Its brilliant and well worth the asking price. The seller helpfully sends some instructions in advance as it works a little differently to some openers (you know the ones that don't work). To be honest though you don't really need the instructions, its simple to operate and it really does work perfectly. The lid does come off without a trace of a sharp edge and in such a way that if you really wanted to you could place the lid back on the tin. I don't even bother trying the rubbish ring pulls now as this is such a great opener I actually like using it instead of wrestling with the simple process of opening a can of beans!.
My partner is extremely pleased as she really hates the jagged edges that used to be left on tins especially when I only used to be able to get the lids half undone. This is well worth the money and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I like the quality of the product and also it's pleasing to the eye, well as much as a can opener can be ....

However, it does look better than the one it replaced in the drawer.

The botte opener function works well as it removes bottom caps with ease .

The cab opening can be tricky as it takes a while to get it correctly fitted . This is mainly down to lack of use as most cans now have ring pulls

However in the occasions that you need to open some garden peas from Aldi then this does remove the lid cleanly without leaving sharp , serrated edges

It's probably not the items fault that it's tricky to use . It's just lack of practice in my part

I bought this tin opener for use in our community kitchen. The tin opener it replaced was not up to the job of opening extra large catering style tins. This opener powered through them like a champ!
The tin opener came with detailed instructions, as it works slightly different from standard openers. There are strict instructions to avoid submerging it in water, or putting in the dishwasher, as the internals are lubricated, and likely to rust. This is the only thing I worry about; I feel that most people wouldn't think twice about washing a tin opener in the sink after use. 🤷‍♂️
However, the construction seems to be of a good quality, and should last a long time.
Opening tins is super easy, with a smooth operation, and little resistance. There are no sharp edges left on the tin, which is much safer for children.
All in all, a good tin opener. Recommended.
