Purchased the new edition to replace the old. Wiring instructions a bit confusing, why use the letter A which does have a meaning if you are in the know. Why not just say Live feed from PIR to light fitting, which everyone could understand.
Otherwise easy to connect and fit to the wall. It works fine and angled down a bit picks up animals moving around the back yard in the dark.
The unit is very reasonably priced and if it lasts for almost 20 years like the old one will be very good value for money.

Terrible performance, constant false triggers

After looking around I decided to give this detector a go. I wish I hadn't, from the first time it was installed, it kept giving false triggers, every 7 seconds or so, on and off all the time.
The the setting on the controls made absolutely no difference to anything. The timing, the sensativity and the dawn/dusk did not make any diffence, as if they even internally connected.
To try to reduce the false triggering until the unit was replaced, I even reangled it to be pointing directly downwards and it kept giving false triggers.
The false triggers made this unit useless and not fit for any purpose.
Avoid this unit at all cost.

I had an automatic motion sensor LED floodlight (£55) from a leading DIY store, in which the PIR detector had failed due to weather damage and water ingress. Rather than throw away the whole thing, I decided to try and replace just the PIR detector part, took a punt on this inexpensive Luceco PIR detector, and to my pleasure I found that it was physically and electrically identical to my old failed detector. It was a fairly straightforward job to swap in the Luceco detector, and my security light is now as good as new. A classic example of the Right to Repair in action! One very nice feature of this Luceco detector is that the three adjusting knobs can be turned with fingers, rather than needing to fiddle about with a screwdriver whilst up a ladder in the dark. Recommended, for both new and repair projects.
