I grew up with these games. I played them... a lot.

The new games are definitely an improvement. I.m about half way through ME2 after completing ME1 and can honestly say it is a major improvement on the originals. ME1 the most dated of the games gets a really good facelift and the guns/action is much improved. I still noticed a few bugs but it didnt hamper my gameplay.

ME2 pretty much the same as above. The fact that all the DLC content is included too , is another bonus.

The most striking part which tells you how much work has gone into the game is the photo/screenshot function. Some of the photos are simply magnificent.

I see the multiplayer is missing on ME3 but apparently this is being worked on. There is still a quite hardcore of players that still use this from the original format, will be good when that arrives.

For a nostalgic 3 game adventure with well over 150 - 200hours of gameplay for £50 . Well worth it.

Purchased this just recently as I was informed on Xbox that it was soon leaving Game Pass. I decided to buy it since I already started the first Mass Effect game and wanted to see how the rest of ME1 and ME2 and ME3 panned out. My friends actually recommended the games to me years ago but I never got to play these on the Xbox 360/PS3 era of consoles as I was playing other games at that time such as Halo 3, Resident Evil 5 etc.

So now, 15 years on from the release of the first game I have finally gotten round to playing them and so far, i'm really enjoying the story and gameplay of Mass Effect 1 and the game looks and runs great in 4K on the Xbox Series X.

The developer Bioware is known for creating Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic so if you liked that game and you're a fan of Sci-Fi and RPG's, I definitely recommend it!

This is not a complete overhaul of the original games, but includes some nice quality upgrades to bring the graphics more in line with xbox one (at least, this is my experience so far in ME1) and I found there was very little to complain about.

Some of the party characters hair looks quite low res, but you have good customisation options for your shep. That being said, there are occasional moments where the lighting goes weird (moving from one zone to another or while in a lift). There is still a little clunkiness to the combat in the first game, but it’s mainly down to being true to the original design: I would say a combat build with snipers or pistols would have the easiest time because the accuracy and responsiveness of those weapons is good; you can’t ‘curl’ biotics around cover like you can in later games and abilities can only be mapped to a single shortcut button, which makes them a tad awkward (except for personal barriers etc.). Once you realise that grenades are press to throw, then press again to explode, theyre actually pretty good.

As I suggest with my title, this isn't a bold reimagining or anything of these three all time classic games from the Xbox 360 era. Yes, sure, mass effect 1 has been reworked a lot, but unless you go and pop in your old 2007 mass effect 1 disc (or whichever year it was) and do a proper on the spot comparison or look up videos of YouTube or something you won't really notice to a game changing level. Well, assuming you haven't played mass effect 1 since Xbox 360 was the current gen Xbox.

Mass effect 2 and 3 have gone through more subtle changes, making them feel pretty much how one remembers them possibly, given enough time since you last played them.

So we're talking about a 2007 (I think) title that's been reworked to align more with a 2010 and 2012 title. I got the latter two on launch day and all three are some of the most important gaming experiences for me, but I'm not quite certain of those dates. But anyway, I'm not far off if I'm off. My point is that these still feel like games from 10 or more years ago. And games have moved on somewhat in terms of standards in this and that area, so these games are starting to age. It's something to factor in if it's going to be a bother. But these games never were silky and action smooth as COD or Gears of War say, so where these games are strongest (world building, characters etc) they are still strong. So that's what matters to someone like me. It's one of those few special universes in the game world that makes you want to stay in them for a lot longer than the more meaningful content will ever allow. And mass effect 1 will specifically have a very special place for me with its kind of 80s sci fi floaty aura going on, something that was partially dropped with the next two for a more action sci fi theme (but still awesome).

I'd say this is for those who played them first time around but want them in a slightly more refined package. But if you are someone who isn't too bothered when it comes to dealing with the few niggles that come with older game mechanics from the 360/PS3 era and you're in the market for a game with a fantastic sci fi world that at times feels like it rivals star wars even, I'd say you shouldn't pass on this one.
