    Great item. Everything was ok

I like this album, a good selection. Though, I think her other album- Love Tattoo, contains better songs that each spoke to me & made me sit up & pay attention. Mayhem hasn't done that for me. I've listened to it a few times now & doesn't hold my attention like her others, it's just become background music while I'm busy completing tasks etc. For me, all the songs on this album begin to blend into one long song, no stand alone track that holds its own. She does do a good cover version of Tainted Love, but not enough to make me stop what I'm doing & think-wow.
That said, I would listen to the album again-but it wouldn't be my first choice of Imelda May's.
I do recommend the album, as I would in no way call it bad, just a tad lacklustre for me.

    What a fantastic album.

I'd heard about Imelda Mae for at least a year before I heard her, on Jools Holland. Then it took a bit longer to buy the CD. Why did I wait? This is original, eclectic, fun, witty and Imelda can really sing! This reminds me of Paolo Nuttini in many ways it has the same throwback style, in Nuttini's case to Latin and BosasaNova in this case to Honky-Tonk and Hillbilly merged with Jazz and Swing. Like Nuttini, the music lulls you into a false sense of security with its familiar rhythms but the lyrics have all the edginess expected from a modern writer. There is a raw sensuality to many of them too. The production is spot on, with a punch sound and clarity that allows every nuance of the vocals to shine through. Now if I can only find a local gig to hear her live!

Watched Imelda on the Jools Holland show and was intrigued by her voice and style of music. Had a browse of her website listened to a couple of videos and decided to purchase the disk (More Mayhem). This is a stunning disk with varous styles of music, the band is a terrific compliment to her voice and I really enjoy 90% of the tracks on the disk, this is very good as normally I find that I struggle to find two or three tracks on most disks that I have purchased over the last few years.

I am looking forward to the next Album !!!!

Excellent album, not a bad track on it. I first heard Imelda May on the Graham Norton Show and thought her music was different and I certainly liked it. I decided to buy the album to hear more of her music and I wasn't disappointed. I listened to the samples on your site and decided to buy her first album, Love Tattoo, again I am not disappointed. I love all the tracks. She is a new superstar and long 'May' she reign!Mayhem Love Tattoo Good value for money and a very speedy service, albums arrived the next day.

Heard Imelda on BBC Breakfast then looked at her band on Jules Holland (YouTube) - Brilliant! - so looked for her CD's on ÍøÆغÚÁÏ. Chose Love Tattoo as it has 'Johnny Got a Boom Boom' and the rest of the tracks are all very good. Also bought 'Mayhem' CD. It has another version of 'Johnny Got a Boom Boom' listed as 'Mayhem'. (There are 2 'Mayhem' tracks listed).

Both CD's have many good tracks for dancing Salsa to or just partying - they make you want to dance - a problem whilst listening to them in the car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Irish Modern Little Miss Dynamite
Reviewed in the United States on 11 August 2011
IN A SNAPSHOT: Rockabilly/Swing, with a distictive bass sound, fused with jazz/Irish soul/surf music guitars and a distinctive unforgettable voice.Well paced mixture of rocking and slower paced songs. The second solo outing for Ms May, which offers the next step up from Love Tattoo in her musical development. All written (except Tainted Love)by her and she is backed by a tight and steaming combo with guests. She has stepped out of the Jeff Beck school of perfection to deliver a well produced and endearing tribute to a style that simply that does not get its just dues in modern music appreciation.Dynamite vocal dynamite sound dynamite production, instantly listenable and with feeling. 5 stars.

I have recently listened to Love Tattoo again, and realized why I loved the Imelda May sound. Irish soul mixed with that United Kingdom blend of rockabilly and swing and a voice that makes it all come at you like a locomotive. She is pint sized but all class, sassy with power, having of recent times been mentored by Jeff Beck and showing all the benefits that he has brought to her sound and confidence with a song. I saw her live in Australai in 2010, when she supported Jeff Beck and was treated to achingly beutiful renditions of songs and knockout rock and rockabilly.I would recommend that you get the Rock n Roll Party (Tribute to Les Paul) by Jeff Beck and experience the seven or eight tracks on there that have Ms May singing vocals and flexing her not insubstantial vocal range and chords on some classic vintage tunes.Listen to Sitting on Top of the World and appreciate.

For me to purchase a CD these days, and one that borrows from a pioneering sound of the 1950's and 60s at that, there has to be something that grips you straight away, an excellence in tone and style, otherwise it falls flat and runs out of puff and leaves you dissatisfied as it is simply a pale imitation of Wanda Jackson or who ever. From the opening sounds this CD delivers, and yes it is pitched to be radio and industry friendly, but then again the type of music makes it that way. You want to move and experience the obvious feeling that is being unleashed here and the tightness of the band compliments the vocal delivery. On that point, her version of Tainted Love is a knockout and rips along ,so much so that she has given the song a new lease of life. She is Irish for petes sake and she can sing and I would suspect has no problems in reconciling her devilish pursuit of a good song and time with her Catholic upbringing. I think everyone should go to an Irish Pub, in Ireland and experience a culture that loves to enjoy itself. I am unashamedly delighted with this CD, which these days can never be guaranteed, so I would recommend it to all if you want to experience a modern vocally enchanting delivery of the interpretation of the basics or rock n roll and bass swing. 5 stars.
