Product description
Sixth studio album by the British rock group, originally released in October 1971. With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the band devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track 'Echoes'.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2020I first bought Meddle back in 1971, and played it so much I wore out the vinyl. Years latter, when it was released on cd, I got myself one. Oddly enough it seemed to me as if
the vinyl version sounded better than the cd. Then, in recent years, all the Pink Floyd albums got re-released on vinyl half speed mastered. That got my curiosity going, so I went out and bought Meddle yet again. It was obvious from the start that the newly released Meddle vinyl sounded warmer and fuller(obviously that was the aim). There was
virtually no crackling or any other surface noise, I was truly delighted to have it on vinyl again. This album was in fact a good indicator as to which direction the band’s music was going, a clear pointer to TDSOTM. Particularly Echoes, a long composition, spanning the entire side 2 of the album, a very experimental song for the early seventies, indicated there was more of this to come, and so it did. Some say that it now sounds dated and irrelevant, but I beg to differ. To me it is simply part of the band’s evolving
musical concept at that time, and will say no more. Listening to Meddle is still exciting,
so why should I ponder on how old the record is. It really doesn’t matter to me, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2021Now owning the stalwarts of the floyd back catalogue on vinyl I found myself listening to 'one of these days' on a Spotify shuffle and also watching 'echoes' performed at pompeii and realised these two amazing tracks were not in my collection.
After a moment of research I realised Meddle was the album that contained these mystical tracks.
Gave it a spin today and it's a great album, as many others state, this is probably the first glimpse of the Pink Floyd we all recognise and know.
A worthy addition, all the other tracks are great, some very beautiful and mellow.
The remastered version on vinyl is second to none, sounds amazing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 July 2011This album were it not for the knockabout track seamus i would rate even higher ,possibly higher than dark side of the moon.It has all the ingredients to reach out far into the future and not sound dated .Obviously the stand out track is echoes which in my opinion is their finest track ever and if you ever watch it live at pompei only adds to the experience ,it is truly a progressive rock track in its finest form .
1.One of these days is a great opener with a fine bassline running throughout, and the keyboards adding the extra dimension to lift it into spacial depth.
2.pillow of winds .slightly folky number ,sung in in a very mellow manner as intended would stand the test of time ,purely because folk dont age.very pleasant .love the vocals and accoustic guitar backing with the beautifull electric giutar hovering away over the piece.
3.fearless .again another folk based riff continues the textured feeling mapped out for us and sung beautifully and played in mandoline style similar to some of led zeppelin accoustic tracks .
4.san tropez. another beautifull melody with a slight bluesy feel ,is this pink floyd ? it certainly is and you could play this to many people and they would'nt realise.unexpected but totally welcome.
5.seamus .hmm this seems like a wind up ,but i reckon that dog howling must have got to them or it looked them in the eye and demanded to be on the album or it would bite their bollocks off .Or the band thought we have such a brilliant next track that we will dupe the listener into thinking we are just a pub band and not really that good afterall (let them wait and see).christ i used to know a cat that cryed on the fence in the night and luckily i was a good shot with my shoe !,maybe it should have been signed up for a record contract just like seamus.
6. This is it ,this is the track, this is what i believe to be the bands beautifull moment ,all 23+1/2 minutes of it in remastered excellence ."overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air and deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral waves the echo of a distant tide comes willowing across the sand and everything is green and submarine" is the opening verse .It is sang with such soft composure and bliss ,that they are in full control of their power only to unleash it as echoes progresses through these fantastic 23+1/2 minutes .Inspiring .At 15.03 notice the ping sound and the very weak ping return towards the end until it fades, then returns in the final minute almost pinging back immediately. The've found something!
This album is what all modern day bands should listen to, its 40yrs old now ,beautifully controlled ,textured and layered, sung with a inhibitional emotional power and depth , kept under total control throughout while drawing you further in .Apart from the track five blip which is luckliy short , annoyingly spoils this being the total pink floyd album ,skip this and you have a set to rival any band/record on the planet.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 December 2022The one that mattered. Their finest moment! This sounds fantastic. Just buy it!!!!!!
oops...forgot.......good pressing and flawless!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 June 2010The album that transformed Pink Floyd from its sixties roots to its seventies mega status. To me it really shows the influence that David Gilmour had brought to the band.
Starting with the powerful One Of These Days the album moves on to the very calm A Pillow Of Winds through Fearless and on to the very jazzy San Tropez. Then comes the quirky Seamus before finally the albums masterpiece Echoes. It is this track which really does show the direction that the band was to take which would ultimately lead to their finest albums Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.
Today nearly forty years later the album is still great to listen to, I could play Echoes over and over again - Fabulous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clássico em ótima qualidade
Música: o álbum é excelente, Echoes e One of These Days são clássicas, e essa versão traz vida à todas as faixas. Para ouvir em volume alto, devido às dinâmicas.
