About this item

OUTDOOR SECURITY SYSTEM: This outside alarm set includes one motion sensor, one receiver and remote control. The motion detector senses movement and temperature changes to alert you when vehicles or people enter your property.
LIGHT AND SOUND: When triggered, the receiver sends out an alarm sound and flashing LED lights, lasting 45 seconds. There are 5 different alarm tones and 4 volume levels. The receiver has a switch to turn the alarm on or off.
PRODUCT DETAILS: Delivery includes one motion detector, one receiver, remote control, mounting hardware set. Runs on batteries (not included) or from DC power cord (not included).
DETECTION RANGE: The motion sensor detects movement and temperature changes from up to 8m away (over 26 feet). The wireless range between the sensor and receiver is up to 120m (almost 400 feet).
EASY SET UP: Install anywhere outside your home or property as an alert system and security deterrent. The sensor and receiver arrive already configured and ready to go.

This was a second attempt at a driveway PIR project. The first was an sensor that connected to a smartphone via wifi but had to be reset everty time the phone was taken away from the house. Thought I'd give this "old school" technology a try and it is robust, well made and works both reliably and perfectly.

I particularly like the way that the volume on the receiving end can be controlled and the alert sound changed from a siren to something more like a door bell.

The only thing I dislike (as some other reviewers have mentioned) is the red LED that flashes on the IR unit when it is activated as it it so bright. Shame it cannot be disabled (so that the batteries last longer) but masking tape - even a lump of BluTac - does the job to conceal it.

Receiver is very quick to install, all it needs is 3 'c' cells, the remote uses a small 12 v battery.

The transmitter is highly sensitive , it would idea for a garage , a shed or in a room in the house but in the garden or driveway it gave constant false alarms. Unlike most security lights there is no adjustment for this . I eventually managed to make it useable by setting it up as a pencil beam by taping off most of the sensor with insulation tape and placing it where birds, leaves or bush movement were unlikely to trigger it.

Came on time, easy to set up. Seemed to work great, the WIFI worked. Even though the sensor was meant to be able to be outside, I made sure that it was protected from any water ingress. I placed it in a plastic container and taped up the joints of the sensor.

But then, in the first couple of days it appeared to give us a couple of false alarms. I put that down perhaps to a bird setting it off.

Then a day or two later I forgot to shut it down, and yet, it didn't go off when I activated it. I investigated. It still didn't. I removed the batteries to reset the coupling of sensor and alarm. The sensor appeared to be activated, as it always appeared to do but, the alarm was not sounding no matter how close the two were to each other.

I've decided to keep the sensor in place for the time being, because perhaps, perhaps, it could by some lucky chance deter. Not likely though. The idea is great but the application of the idea has been poor and unreliable. Update, I'm sending it back.

This device was purchased for a very specific reason. My wife has Alzheimer's and tends to wander occasionally at night. Sometimes, although I'm a light sleeper, she goes downstairs, potters around and sometimes lets the dog out. This can result in an unlocked door, open fridge, lights on, etc. I needed to be alerted reliably when her movement is detected on the stairs so I can oversee her activity. This fills the bill admirably.

Edit. Since first writing this, it has become critical to attend my wife if she attempts to get out of bed at night. By judicious placement and taping off the PIR window on either side and at the top, it now watches the side of the bed and should a leg appear from under the duvet, the alarm alerts me immediately. This has saved her from numerous falls and has become a godsend. I also have an alarm that is a push button worn around the neck, but it's of no use because she can't remember to push the button if assistance is needed. Alzheimer's is an evil disease.

The detection angle of the PIR is very wide but can be reduced by adding vertical strips of insulating tape to narrow the sensor's beamwidth. Similarly, a scrap of tape can be used to cover the very bright red LED on the PIR.

The only problem I encountered during absolutely minimal experimentation was volume setting, but as I want to ensure I'm wakened, even from the deepest of slumbers, I didn't mind its maximum setting on the noisiest choice of alarm tone. The remote is close to hand so once awake, it is soon silenced.

At £19.99, it represents extremely good value for money as I could not have built an equivalent for anything like £20 in component cost alone.

I have the siren fitted discreetly in my taxi roof sign & I ve the PIR fitted discreetly in my drive way. It triggers when persons enter my drive so it warns them before they proceed to tamper with my taxi which has a alarm too. I m getting a 2nd Navarous unit for my back garden as well.
I also have a in-house driveway alert alarm as extra back up so I know when people are on my property.
This is an asset & deterant for what I use it for.

So, I did not read it properly when ordering...
You need one for the remote, and 3 aaa for the light and 3 C ones for the main unit..
I cannot see that they will last that long, so constantly will be changing batteries....
In total cost me 10 quid, but it does come with 1 for the remote......

The alarm I got was not the same as the picture, as a diff colour....it was white, but not quite as described...
It is not great quality, but I guess you get what you pay for???

It did come on time, and was packaged well, but still only 2 stars for all reasons.....

Das Ding ist einfach Klasse und im Preis unschlagbar. Die Batterien halten bei mir schon seit 5 Monaten sowohl im Sensor als auch im kleinen Steuer- und Empfangsgerät. Die Empfindlichkeit des Sensors ist märchenhaft. Mußte den Empfangsbereich unten und seitlich mit weißem Band abkleben, weil es bei jedem Vogel oder Katze schon ansprang. Aber durch das selektive Abdecken des Sensors kann man die Reichweite, den Bereich und die Empfindlichkeit auf individuelle Anwendung ganz leicht festlegen. Die Töne im Empfänger sind auf verschiedene Töne und Lautstärke umschaltbar. Werde mir noch ein paar von den Teilen für weitere Flächen/Seiten des Gebäudes zulegen.

Was sehr unerfreulich ist, daß das Teil erst 15.- dann 18.- und jetzt 22.- Euronen kostet. Also das ist nicht in Ordnung, bei einem erfolgreichen Artikel den Preis einfach so hochzuschrauben. Ich habe nun eine sehr gute Note vergeben und wünsche dem Verkäufer, daß er viele mehr davon verkauft, aber mach' er doch nicht solche Verteuerungen!
