Like some people, I have some old gaming consoles such as a Wii and PS2 which I haven't played in a while because modern TVs no longer have a scart socket option.
With this cable I can take the dust off and play with the old consoles again on the new TVs with the kids and see the retro games we use to play.
The cable works well and as a bonus it can upscale the image upto1080p. Liking the cable, hoping it will be durable as well.

I have a few old VCRs and DVD players that have no HDMI connection. This adapter allows me to connect them up to a modern TV. Build quality seems pretty good. The adapter has an HDMI connection at one end and SCART at the other, together with a USB connection for power. That part of the cable could have been longer, as there are no USB ports in my VHS player but I can manage. There's a very useful aspect ratio toggle button on the HDMI connector housing but no other features of note. Quality is pretty good. Given you are working with an analogue source, the output is going to be a bit fuzzy anyway but it's far better than I expected and tidier than the last adapter I used which was a box which I had to plug cables into. This requires no additional cables so is a much more tidy option.

I requested this as I have a disabled brother in law that loves his videos even though he is going blind and that is the problem, he now cannot see the remote very well and so cannot use a DVD player because of the menu and chapters etc he cannot work out the buttons and got very annoyed, so we had to stick with his VCR.

His TV at the moment is so old it still has a scart connection and this is one we had to scour the web for when his older one stopped working. So to future proof in a way I got this, we already have a few 2nd hand VCRs that we have picked up in charity shops and car boots etc.

I tested this on our TV with an old game console and it worked very well, so it does the job and what I really like is it is one lead and not an adapter where you have to first of all find a scart lead and an HDMI lead.

The lead itself is well built and has good connectors, you can choose between 4:3 and 16:9 screen ratios and it looks like it has an upscaler built in, although most modern TVs do this to some extent or the other.

In conclusion, I am very happy with this as it has given me a little peace of mind and it works well.

If, like me, you have a new TV and also like to use your old media tech then this is something that allows you to connect a SCART to HDMI. The new TV's only seem to support HDMI and so without something like this then it would be hard or impossible to keep using them.

I have plenty of old game consoles and VCR's that I like to use now and again. The VCR's in particular as they remind me how poor the quality of recorded programs looked back in the day.

Plug the SCART socket into your legacy player and the other end to the HDMI and find a USB A somewhere for the power and that is it. The picture quality is pretty good and you have the option of 16.9 and 4.3 screen ratios to choose from.

There are a number of these types of products to choose from but I like this format as it is just a lead with the electronics built in which I feel is neater and an all in one solution. If only they can draw power from the SCART or HDMI then it would be perfect but I understand that this is not possible.

Other reviewers have covered the technical specifications better than I can; suffice it to say that I am once again able to watch that 1985 recording of me on the Tom O'connor Roadshow, pushing an ex- Miss United Kingdom around Cambridge in the Rag Bed Race.

The next step will be to work out if I can use this to transfer that video onto my PC and into a digital format; not sure. However, for now I'm happy that I can once again use that old VCR in the loft, even if it reminds me how much fatter I am than I was 40 years ago.

Ich suchte eine Lösung um einen VHS Videorekorder an einen modernen AV Receiver anzuschließen. Also Scart auf HDMI. Zuerst war ich sehr skeptisch ob des Preise dieses Adapters, aber ich bin sehr positiv überrascht worden. Die Verbindung funktioniert perfekt ohne jegliche Konfiguration oder Gefummel. Besser geht nicht. Leider sieht man aber auch sofort, wie schlecht VHS im Vergleich zu heutigen FHD oder 4k ist. Daran kann dieser Adapter natürlich nichts ändern.

Tenía en mente deshacerme de un viejo reproductor VHS de Panasonic. Cuando compramos el nuevo televisor sabía que la entrada Scart ya no estaría presente. Y así fue, el video reproductor Panasonic, ya de por sí infrautilizado, quedó acumulando polvo en un estante del trastero.

Hace unas semanas comprobamos que, por descuido y falta de tiempo, no habíamos hecho el traspaso de algunas cintas familiares VHS al formato digital. Ya lo haremos, ya lo haremos y ahí están esperando, al igual que tantos billones de kilómetros de grabaciones familiares que se quedaron por el camino en millones de hogares…

Aclaremos los conceptos... Iba a ponerle tres estrellas porque me llevé una gran decepción cuando vi la imagen resultante en una pantalla 4k de 65”… Entonces entendí que los milagros no existen. Acostumbrados al visionado de resoluciones mayores, volver atrás (cinta VHS) nos hace pensar que esa falta de definición es culpa del cable. La calidad visual que ofrece este cable Neoteck es idéntica de la original, la misma calidad (buena o mala) que transfiere el reproductor de video VHS, el DVD, la consola, o cualquier fuente original con salida Scart, literalmente. Como no puede ser de otro modo, según sea la fuente original y así como sea el estado de conservación de la grabación, o también el estado de los cabezales del reproductor, este cable no va a mejorar la imagen original. Es decir, No vamos a conseguir imágenes más nítidas en la resolución 1080p desde una fuente de 576p como la emitida en el formato televisivo. No. Eso no es posible. La imagen se puede reescalar, SÍ, por supuesto, pero ello no implica mejorar la fuente original con un simple cable. Si hablamos de cintas de video VHS el equivalente de su resolución digital es aún menor, de unos 320x480 píxeles. Realmente es una imagen pobre, lo que había en todos los hogares o lo que antaño alquilaban nuestros vecinos en el videoclub. Para conseguir mejorar esas viejas y pobres resoluciones se necesitará tiempo, un procesador digno, sobre todo armado con un buen software y excelentes filtros...

Así pues estoy en la aventura de digitalizar unos cuantos videos y recuerdos utilizando este cable Neoteck, de SCART a HDMI. Se alimenta con un puerto USB o con un cargador de 5V. La imagen resultante es aceptable y el color es bastante natural. Insisto, el cable no modifica la definición, solo modifica la imagen para ser enviada a la pantalla o a una capturadora de video por la salida HDMI. Obtenemos una imagen sin ganancia de nitidez, una copia con la misma nitidez que el video original.

En el extremo HDMI del cable tenemos una pestaña diminuta con la opción de cambiar el formato a 4/3 o a 16/9... El cable mide unos 150 cm, suficiente para maniobrar con las conexiones.

Conclusión: Si quieres volver a rememorar la era analógica este es un cable imprescindible.
