The simple snap-on design of this durable polycarbonate case allows for easy installation and removal without causing damage to your new 3DS XL. The polycarbonate shell has all matching cut-outs for the ports and functions of your new 3DS XL.

The New Nintendo 3DS is a handheld game console developed by Nintendo in Japan. It is the fourth system in the Nintendo 3DS line of handheld consoles, following the original Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, and Nintendo 2DS.

The system was released on October 11, 2014 in Japan and New Zealand on November 21, 2014 on January 6, 2015 in Europe. In North America (US&Canada), the new Nintendo 3DS XL was released on February 13, 2015.

Please note: due to differences in size, this case is designed to fit the shape of the new Nintendo 3DS XL/LL only, and cannot be used with the previous system.

Not saying that's a bad thing (you get what you paid for) but it's better than nothing. For their price I'd say it's worth it for it's protection against everyday scuffs & blemishes (especially too if you have a limited edition model) Can't say yet for when you accidentally drop it but I can guarantee it. Installation wasn't too difficult but was definitely annoying to get on at first, other than that they grip the n3DS XLs very well. Adds a bit of bulk to them but that's nothing :)

Sure it's price tag might be a little bit but if you're looking for maximum protection,
these cases will do as such.

This is a case for the NEW 3DS XL. It will NOT fit other versions as they are different sizes, and have a different layout for the ports (charging, game carriage, stylus, headphone). For those saying "it doesn't fit," I looked into which 3DS they had (one review mentions the 2DS, other mentions the 3DS XL) It ONLY fits the NEW 3DS XL, just like the kind I have and can be seen in my photos. If there is an additional thumbstick in the upper right corner than that is a good indication that is is the NEW 3DS. It will NOT fit the 3DS XL either, as there are slight differences in the systems with regards to where the ports for everything are.

I got the crystal clear as I wanted the SNES look of my 3DS to show. installation is not difficult, though understand you may need to apply a bit more pressure than you think at first, for fear of the case cracking. It didn't crack on me, and can also be removed if needed (I had to access the micro SD card after putting the case on, and I was able to detach and reset it without any issues).

It does not interfere with the hinges, nor the any of the buttons. The hinge less design, in my opinion, is ideal as it is one less thing that can break. It also keeps the case slim, and will still fit in a carrying case without the need to get a new one as it doesn't make the system too bulky at all.

The only down side is not due to the case, but due to the design of the New 3DS XL. The only access to the micro SD card is by taking out the two screws on the back and opening it up. The case here covers the back, and would have to be removed in order to access the micro SD. However, if you do not frequently need to access the card, then this is a non issue.

Overall, this is a GREAT case if you want to protect against scratches and small drops, and still want your DS theme image to show (like the SNES one). If you are looking to get one, just make sure that you have the correct model 3DS XL.

I plan on ordering a second one for my son's 3DS so his Pikachu case image shows, and can have some protection against it becoming scratched or damaged.
