I had one of these before, but I committed the unpardonable (but I suspect fairly common) sin of lighting it with the splash plate upside down; the result being that I fried the wire for the ignition spark. Having used it along with a box of matches for a few years, I thought I'd treat myself to a new one. What a disappointment that the piezo sparker in the new unit doesn't work. I really don't want to send it back for that. Save the planet.
Setting aside my own misfortunes, this is a great wee unit, just does what it says, at a budget price. The engineered design is streamlined, efficient and robust, probably gone through a revision process over many years. You can't really go wrong with it, unless you forget to turn the splash plate over. But even here, the new design has a mechanism that doesn't allow the gas canister to be inserted if the splash plate is upside down. So . . . foolproof!
The unit comes with a very practical plastic case for storing & carrying.
Makes you want to go camping.
