We recently moved in to a house with surround sound speakers in the ceiling of a couple of rooms, two av amps in a cupboard, and a rather complicated setup to get sound from av to speakers or from various source to both tv + speakers.

Replaced all the complexity with one of these, IR out of the tv, via eth, then in to IR on AV. Works perfectly, and means we can enjoy surround sound from consoles, via chromecast, or just anything that's currently on the tv.

Highly recommend, a real problem solver when upgrading from antiquated multiple boxes in a cupboard setup and input switching, to a more modern setup. Side point that you can also get rid of several remotes due to removing the need to input switch on AV.
