Simply the Paste

The ARCTIC MX-6 is a carbon filler-based thermal paste and reaches its maximum performance without burn-in, directly after application and distribution. It achieves all of this without any reputed ingredients, such as expensive diamond dust or various precious metal particles. The silicone gel used as a carrier enables optimal distribution, which is achieved through even contact pressure, for example when mounting the heat sink.

With its improved composition, the ARCTIC MX-6 has a measurably lower thermal resistance than the MX-4.

We measured the absolute thermal resistance of both pastes on our lab-testing machine, which is much more accurate than a CPU. Two factors are mainly relevant:

A lower thermal resistance of the paste leads to a lower temperature difference between CPU and cooler.

Versatile range of applications

With its new composition, MX-6 is the suitable thermal compound for many application scenarios. Excellent non-drying and non-bleeding properties ensure consistent long-term performance. Its viscosity prevents leakage due to the pump-out effect. It's also suitable for direct-die cooling scenarios which occur, for example, with graphics cards or console processor GPUs.

To ensure that your paste is genuine, there is the ARCTIC Authenticity Check. This allows every product to be reliably verified. A counterfeit offers neither the performance nor the durability of the original ARCTIC pastes.

Easy application

MX-6 is neither electrically conductive nor capacitive. This eliminates the risk of short circuits or discharges, which can cause serious damage to components if care is not taken. The thermal paste is also free of liquid metal components, which can often lead to discoloration, abrasion or corrosion damage to the radiator bottom.

Available in several versions

ARCTIC MX-6 is available in package sizes from 2 to 8 grams. Resealable syringes prevent the paste from drying out and facilitate dispensing. Alternatively, the variants with MX Cleaner are available. These enable simple and residue-free cleaning of the contact surfaces. The cleaner consists of 100% Limonene, a natural substance obtained from citrus essential oil.

I went to a computer repair shop a week ago to have the thermal paste replaced, however, perhaps due to the poor skills of the repairers or the quality of the product they used, this caused my R7-5800H to reach 80 degrees even in standby mode. The fan had to run all the time to cool down the CPU. I had to buy this product and try replacing the thermal paste myself, which worked surprisingly well. Now my laptop is quiet again. It stays at 50 degrees in standby and below 70 degrees when I am running a high load game. Considering the huge amount of heat generated by the R7-5800H, this product has performed well enough. It is very easy to use and the viscosity is appropriate and will not cause you any problems.

The MX Cleaner purchased along with it cleans well, but the smell is very unpleasant, much like petrol mixed with chemicals. I think these drawbacks are negligible though as it is far cheaper than some well known products and perhaps performs even better.

Used the MX-4, MX-5 and now the MX-6, they all have worked well for me, this new MX-6 along with the same cooler (but replaced under warranty) dropped my temps by 5c/9c on idle and did not get beyond 69c when before it was hitting 80c+. Could be that the cooler was not working as it should (Was replaced with the same one though) and I think coupled with an iffy water cooler not cooling well and new paste on a new cooler all helped to get the temps down.
Never gone hard on me, easy to clean as well, it just does it's job very well.

I’ve used this thermal paste for some time now, and overall, it performs exceptionally well. However, there are a couple of things worth mentioning—one being a personal gripe and the other something that could have been improved.

Performance
First and foremost, the thermal paste does its job. After application, I noticed consistently low temperatures, which is exactly what you want from a product like this. Compared to other thermal pastes I’ve tried, this one stands out for its effectiveness, keeping my components cool and stable under load.

The Smell of the Alcohol Wipes
Here’s where my personal gripe comes in: the smell from the alcohol wipes included with the paste is very strong. I’m not sure if the potency is necessary to clean off old thermal paste effectively, but it’s something to be aware of. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not immediately disposing of the used wipes after use. The lingering smell in my room was overwhelming and awful—definitely a lesson learned!

Pricing
While the paste works great, I feel the price is slightly on the higher side. For the performance it offers, it’s reasonable, but a bit of a price drop would make it more accessible to a wider audience.

The thermal paste gives great temperatures even on the higher end cpus like the Ryzen 9 or Intel i9 13th & 14th gen. The thermal wipes efficiently remove thermal paste and I found it was really easy to remove off all the CPUs I used it on. I must advise you however, to use a well ventilated area or even use the thermal paste wipes outside if you can due to the fumes that the chemical on the wipes gives off. I used gloves and had windows open but the chemical smell still lasted over a few hours even in these conditions so be cautious.

The MX-6 thermal paste performs very well in heat transfer and paste application. Temperature drops were noticed immediately under load and re pasting the CPU was very simple as the paste has a slightly higher viscosity compared to MX-4. Spreading the paste for full coverage was fairly simple and quick.

The MX cleaning wipes are a double edge sword compared to iso propyl alcohol. While it does a great job breaking down the old paste for clean up, it also makes the paste very runny. It does not affect any clean up per se but it does get a little messy and stain a lot of things like automotive anti seize.

Finally as noted by many people in the review section, the odor of the cleaner is definitely strong. I highly recommend this job be done somewhere ventilated and throw the wipes directly in the outside trash can.

Os lenços de limpeza são extremamente úteis e duráveis, dando para limpar o processador e o cooler, porém eu recomendo utilizar o mesmo em um ambiente ventilado devido ao odor extremo que ele exala e também a utilização de luvas cirúrgicas, pois a química se prega nas mãos e você ficará com o odor até após o banho.
